View page
US Patent:
20120240638, Sep 27, 2012
Filed:
Mar 24, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/070515
Inventors:
Stephen Edward Hettinger - Louisville KY, US
Daniel Stephen Frazer - West Chester OH, US
Peter Hans Bensel - Grand Ledge MI, US
Manikandan Balasubramaniam - Louisville KY, US
International Classification:
D06B 1/00
US Classification:
68200
Abstract:
An appliance for washing objects that employs a spray device for delivering a washing fluid, e.g., water, to a wash tub in the appliance. The spray device is configured to reduce consumption of the washing fluid such as during a rinse portion of a washing cycle. In one example, the spray device comprises a plurality of apertures that are arranged in one or more arrays. The apertures are configured to disperse the washing fluid as a plurality of spray streams that form a pair of wetted areas on either side the wash tub. The wetted areas provide wetting of the objects along the sides and extending from a front portion to a back portion of the wash tub.

Washing Machine Appliance Lock And Light

US Patent:
20210222348, Jul 22, 2021
Filed:
Jan 16, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/744542
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Peter Hans Bensel - Louisville KY, US
International Classification:
D06F 39/14
D06F 34/10
D06F 103/40
Abstract:
A washing machine appliance includes a cabinet, a tub positioned within the cabinet, and a basket rotatably mounted within the tub. The basket defines a wash chamber for receipt of articles for washing. The basket is positioned proximate an aperture in the cabinet and, as a result of such positioning, the wash chamber is accessible through the aperture. A door is rotatably mounted to the cabinet. A lock is configured to engage the door and prevent the door from rotating when the door is closed and the lock is locked. A light is mounted to the lock and the light is positioned and oriented to illuminate the wash chamber.

Passive Diverter For An Auxiliary Spray Device Of A Washing Machine Appliance

View page
US Patent:
20190257022, Aug 22, 2019
Filed:
Feb 21, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/900865
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Peter Hans Bensel - Louisville KY, US
Naveena Heddanahally Lakshmegowda - Hassan, IN
Manidhar VVS Yandamuri - Hyderabad, IN
International Classification:
D06F 39/08
Abstract:
A washing machine appliance includes a diverter assembly for selectively directing a flow of water to a primary dispenser and an auxiliary spray device. The diverter assembly includes a diverter body defining a diverter body defining a chamber inlet, a primary outlet in fluid communication with the primary dispenser, and an auxiliary outlet in fluid communication with the auxiliary spray device. A diverter valve moves between a first and second position based on a pressure differential relative to a diverter chamber. During standard operation, a spring urges the diverter valve to seal the auxiliary outlet and direct the flow to the primary dispenser. When a button is depressed to activate the auxiliary spray device, the pressure differential across the auxiliary outlet urges the diverter valve to a second position that seals the primary outlet and directs the flow to the auxiliary spray device.

Additive Vessel For A Washing Machine Appliance And Related Methods

View page
US Patent:
20190218702, Jul 18, 2019
Filed:
Jan 12, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/869155
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Peter Hans Bensel - Louisville KY, US
International Classification:
D06F 39/02
D06F 39/08
D06F 39/00
D06F 1/02
Abstract:
A washing machine appliance includes a spray hose assembly fluidly connected to a water supply and configured for selectively providing a flow of wash fluid in a desired direction and location. A receptacle is defined in the spray hose assembly. The receptacle is configured to receive an additive vessel. The washing machine appliance also includes a controller in operative communication with the water supply and the spray hose assembly. The controller may be configured to receive a signal from the spray hose assembly. The signal from the spray hose assembly is indicative of a type of additive in the additive vessel. The controller is also configured to activate the water supply in response to the received signal to provide a flow of water to the spray hose assembly, whereby the flow of water mixes with the additive within the spray hose assembly to form the flow of wash fluid.

Washing Machine Appliance And A Method For Operating A Washing Machine Appliance

View page
US Patent:
20180135229, May 17, 2018
Filed:
Nov 17, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/353778
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Peter Hans Bensel - Louisville KY, US
Ryan Ellis Leonard - Louisville KY, US
International Classification:
D06F 39/08
D06F 37/12
D06F 35/00
Abstract:
A washing machine appliance has a low-flow inlet valve that is configured such that a flow of water from the low-flow inlet valve has a flow rate no greater than one gallon per minute when the low-flow inlet valve is open. A Venturi pump is connected to the low-flow inlet valve such that the flow of water from the low-flow inlet valve enters the Venturi pump at a water inlet of the Venturi pump when the low-flow inlet valve is open. The Venturi pump is operable to draw fluid from a tub through a recirculation conduit to a recirculation inlet of the Venturi pump. A nozzle is positioned and oriented for directing a flow of liquid from the Venturi pump into the tub. A related method for operating a washing machine appliance is also provided.
