Video Game System Having A Control Unit With An Accelerometer For Controlling A Video Game

View page
US Patent:
6545661, Apr 8, 2003
Filed:
Jun 21, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/337433
Inventors:
Patrick E. Goschy - Carol Stream IL
John M. Lowes - Chicago IL
Assignee:
Midway Amusement Games, LLC - Chicago IL
International Classification:
G09G 508
US Classification:
345158, 463 37, 434 19
Abstract:
In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a video game system including a game controller, a video display and a hand-held control unit. The game controller is coupled to the control unit and the video display. The control unit houses an accelerometer that senses the tilt of the control unit with respect to an axis. The accelerometer produces an acceleration signal indicating the tilt of the control unit with respect to the axis. The game controller processes the acceleration signal to control the movement of a game character on the video display. In another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a video game system that further includes a light sensor housed in the control unit. The light sensor detects one or more light pixels from the video display and produces a detection signal to the game controller. The game controller determines from the detection signal the light pixels detected from the video display.

Modular Tube And Table Retrofitable To A Wheelchair

View page
US Patent:
20060032417, Feb 16, 2006
Filed:
Aug 10, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/200838
Inventors:
Patrick Goschy - Elmhurst IL, US
Thomas Sedor - Orland Park IL, US
International Classification:
A47B 9/00
US Classification:
108147000
Abstract:
A tabletop which is effectively easily retrofitable onto a wheelchair without any drilling or welding. The design can support an electronic device for computer-assisted living or simply provide a worksurface for reading or eating. The tabletop assembly is stabilized by an adjustable support structure. A mounting clamp may be provided to mount to the frame of the wheelchair, or a welded mounting tube can be provided which attaches onto the wheelchair footrest. The tabletop can be used in tandem with an optional horizontal panel which is mounted over the tabletop and top-hat brackets to support items such as an electronic device or a beverage. Alternatively, the tabletop can include a control panel which includes, for example, one or more pushbuttons, joy sticks and/or trackballs.

Modular Multi-Wall Tray Retrofitable To A Wheelchair

View page
US Patent:
20080041282, Feb 21, 2008
Filed:
May 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/382763
Inventors:
Patrick Goschy - Elmhurst IL, US
Thomas Sedor - Orland Park IL, US
International Classification:
A47B 11/00
A47B 37/00
US Classification:
108141000, 108044000, 280304100
Abstract:
A robust multi-wall tray which is easily retrofitable to a wheelchair. Due to the structural design, the tray is lightweight but yet more rigid than conventional solid wheelchair trays. The multi-wall tray can be secured to a wheelchair with conventional means or with several novel means that provide a smooth work surface free of screws or Velcro™. A novel prior art adjustable tray support structure can also be integrated into the multi-wall tray to allow the system to mount robustly to the frame of a wheelchair and also allow the tray to fold away to the side of the wheelchair when not in use. Additionally, the multi-wall tray can have a sealed perimeter to create an enclosure for protecting electronic devices. The design can support electronic devices for computer assisted living while also providing a tray work surface for reading, writing or eating.

Motion Simulator For A Video Game

View page
US Patent:
63156733, Nov 13, 2001
Filed:
Oct 5, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/412960
Inventors:
Thomas M. Kopera - Villa Park IL
Thomas P. Anderson - Chicago IL
Patrick E. Goschy - Carol Stream IL
Christopher T. Bobrowski - Chicago IL
Assignee:
Midway Amusement Games LLC - Chicago IL
International Classification:
A63G 3116
US Classification:
472 60
Abstract:
In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a motion simulator for a video game. The motion simulator includes a base and a platform supported on the base. The platform has first and second sides. First and second motors drive respective first and second shafts. First and second cams are mounted to the respective first and second shafts. First and second cam followers are connected to the platform proximate the respective first and second sides. The first and second cam followers rest on the respective first and second cams such that rotation of either the first or second shaft causes vertical movement of the platform.

Methods Of Increasing Efficiency Of Plunger Lift Operations

View page
US Patent:
20220372852, Nov 24, 2022
Filed:
Mar 1, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/652934
Inventors:
- Spring TX, US
Krishnan Kumaran - Raritan NJ, US
Donald Allen Burnett - Spring TX, US
Patrick E. Goschy - Katy TX, US
Brian C. Seabrook - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 43/12
E21B 47/00
Abstract:
Methods of increasing efficiency of plunger lift operations and hydrocarbon wells that perform the methods are disclosed herein. The methods include monitoring an acoustic output from the hydrocarbon well. The methods also include calculating a plunger speed of a plunger of the hydrocarbon well as the plunger travels toward a surface region and calculating a discharge duration of a liquid discharge time period during which liquid is discharged from the hydrocarbon well. The methods further include correlating the plunger speed and the discharge duration to a discharge volume of liquid discharged from the hydrocarbon well
