Communities in Schools of Wilmington
This award celebrates a member of the community who embodies the core values of Communities In Schools, and who integrates those values into everyday practice in a way that allows them to serve students and families in the community. This unsung hero understands relationships and the importance of Personalizing and connecting with every person. This unsung hero practices Coordination in every way looking to connect student’s needs with proven programs and services, always keeping in mind the achievement gap so that each child can succeed in school and life. This community member fosters Equality, dedicated to leveling the playing field and offering equal opportunity to all students regardless of race, culture, or socioeconomic status. This community member recognizes Accountability and Integrity, and understands best practices and standards for achieving school and individual goals and does so with fidelity to the purpose itself. Finally, this community member demonstrates Persistence, knowing there is no “silver bullet” that can solve students’ problems, but that with dedication, determination and prolonged support we can achieve in schools and with individual students.

In honor of John B. Ervin, Washington University established the Ervin Scholars Program to help create a more diverse community on campus. Recognizing the intellectual, leadership, and service achievements of American students, this program supports students who demonstrate their commitment to bringing diverse people together.
Dean's List Fall 2009
In recognition of exceptional scholarship at the end of each semester, the College Office compiles a list of those students whose work has been particularly worthy of commendation. You will be cited on the Dean’s List if you meet the following academic standards: completion of a minimum of 14 units of graded work while achieving a grade point average of 3.5 that semester.

The Healthy Schools Program National Recognition Award is an honor given nationally to showcase and acknowledge schools that have implemented changes in order to create healthier school environments. I submitted the award application on behalf of Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, DE.
