Systems And Methods For Generating Bookmark Video Fingerprints

View page
US Patent:
20090074235, Mar 19, 2009
Filed:
Jul 25, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/180419
Inventors:
Nils B. Lahr - Redmond WA, US
Garrick Barr - Woodinville WA, US
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382100
Abstract:
Systems and methods for replacing original media bookmarks of at least a portion of a digital media file with replacement bookmarks is described. A media fingerprint engine detects the location of the original fingerprints associated with the portion of the digital media file and a region analysis algorithm characterizes regions of media file spanning the location of the original bookmarks by data class types. The replacement bookmarks are associated with the data class types and are overwritten or otherwise are substituted for the original bookmarks. The replacement bookmarks then are subjected to a fingerprint matching algorithm that incorporates media timeline and media related metadata.

System And Method For Distributed And Parallel Video Editing, Tagging, And Indexing

View page
US Patent:
20090097815, Apr 16, 2009
Filed:
Jun 18, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/141719
Inventors:
Nils B. Lahr - Redmond WA, US
Garrick Barr - Woodinville WA, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/93
US Classification:
386 52, 386E05001
Abstract:
A system and method for having a media engine, client, workflow engine and server. The media engine takes digital or analog real-time video or video-on-demand as an input. Clients connect to the media engine, workflow engine and server. Depending on the client's capabilities, including software features, training and location, the workflow engine will drive required units of work to the client asking them to be fulfilled. This system enables efficient offline, real-time or faster than real-time editing, tagging and indexing of media by one or more clients at the same time. Unlimited numbers of users, tags and indexing functions to take place in parallel on a single video feed at the same time and managed through a rule based workflow engine.

Selective Access Of Multi-Rate Data From A Server And/Or Peer

View page
US Patent:
20110055328, Mar 3, 2011
Filed:
Jun 1, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/791789
Inventors:
Nils B. Lahr - Snoqualmie WA, US
John Morris - Camas WA, US
Aj Gregory - Camas WA, US
Robert Green - Camas WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709204
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosed subject matter are directed to facilitating peer-to-peer data exchange in a common domain. In accordance with one embodiment, a method is provided for obtaining content from one or more peers that are connected to the domain. The method includes registering a peer with a super-peer when a connection to the domain is established. Then, the connecting peer obtains data that describes various network conditions and identifies chunks of content available from other peers. In downloading content from other peers, heuristics are applied to select between available chunks that are potentially encoded at different bitrates. The heuristics account for the network conditions between peers and balance the potential need to quickly access content with the desire to obtain high quality content.
