Method For Implementing Management Software, Hardware With Pre-Configured Software And Implementing Method Thereof

View page
US Patent:
20080244047, Oct 2, 2008
Filed:
May 11, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/747229
Inventors:
Alan S. Yeung - Burlingame CA, US
Deming Cha - Palto Alto CA, US
Nicholas Y. Pang - San Mateo CA, US
Assignee:
INVENTEC CORPORATION - Taipei
International Classification:
G06F 15/177
US Classification:
709222
Abstract:
A method for implementing management software, hardware with pre-configured management software and an implementing method thereof are provided. In the present method, a management system is established first at a service end for installing the management software. The management software is installed in a management host and pre-configured with application programs installed in other peripheral hosts. The management host pre-installed with the pre-configured management software is delivered to the client end and connected with a plurality of second peripheral hosts at the client end. Then, software licensing data, software configuration data, and network configuration data of the second peripheral hosts at the client end is obtained and set in the management host. Finally, the management host is rebooted to make the foresaid settings take effect. According to foregoing steps, the most complicated configuration is done at the service end such that the implementation at the client end is simplified significantly.

Verifying Method For Implementing Management Software

View page
US Patent:
20080244064, Oct 2, 2008
Filed:
Jun 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/762082
Inventors:
ALAN S. YEUNG - Burlingame CA, US
DEMING CHA - Palto Alto CA, US
NICHOLAS Y. PANG - San Mateo CA, US
Assignee:
INVENTEC CORPORATION - Taipei City
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709224
Abstract:
A verifying method for implementing management software at a client end is provided herein. The management software works for collecting, managing, and analyzing data of a plurality of peripheral hosts. In the verifying method, a management system fitting the requirements of the management software is established at a service end first. The management system includes a management host and a plurality of first peripheral hosts, and the management host is connected to each of the first peripheral hosts through a network, and the management software is installed in the management host. One or more verifying scenarios are provided herein for testing configuration and performance of the management software at a simulated environment of the client end. Each of the scenarios for testing may consider that a request form the client computer is validated through multiple authorization points and finally a valid and complete response to the client's request is returned.

Knowledge Management System And Method For Implementing Management Software Using The Same

View page
US Patent:
20080244557, Oct 2, 2008
Filed:
May 15, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/748501
Inventors:
Alan S. Yeung - Burlingame CA, US
Deming Cha - Palto Alto CA, US
Nicholas Y. Pang - San Mateo CA, US
Assignee:
INVENTEC CORPORATION - Taipei City
International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717173, 717171
Abstract:
A knowledge management system (KMS) and a method for implementing management software using the KMS are provided. In the present method, a network configuration module is used for obtaining a domain name of a network connecting the knowledge management system and network configuration data of a plurality of peripheral hosts in the network so as to connect the management host with the peripheral hosts. A software licensing module is then used for obtaining the software licensing data of a plurality of application programs required by the management software to verify the legitimacy of the application programs. A software configuration module is used for obtaining configuration data of the application programs to enable the management software to make use of the resource of the application programs. Therefore, the implementation process of the management software is simplified and the flexibility for modifying and updating configuration parameters is enhanced.

Retry Request System In A Pipeline Data Processing System Where Each Requesting Unit Preserves The Order Of Requests

View page
US Patent:
54887062, Jan 30, 1996
Filed:
Dec 18, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/993082
Inventors:
Kent Wendorf - San Jose CA
Ronald N. Hilton - Cupertino CA
Nicholas Y. Pang - San Mateo CA
Jeffrey L. Baker - Milpitas CA
Kham X. Nguyen - Milpitas CA
Assignee:
Amdahl Corporation - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G06F 930
G06F 928
US Classification:
395375
Abstract:
An interface between a storage unit and a system control unit maintains a sequential processing when retrying linestores by providing a single piece of information that the linestore is a "first" in a series. An initial request flag accompanies linestore requests to the system controller and is returned to the storage unit with linestore replies. A mode indicator coupled with the storage unit pipeline sets a retry mode latch in response to a linestore restart reply, and resets the retry mode latch in response to a linestore read reply by the system controller to an initial request. Logic in the pipeline suppresses requests for the system resource in the pipeline, other than initial requests, when the retry mode latch is set, such as by flagging data subject of the second flow as locked or otherwise invalid. The port includes a state machine which preserves the order of pending requests for the system resource.

Cache Error Code Update

View page
US Patent:
47681977, Aug 30, 1988
Filed:
Sep 15, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/907665
Inventors:
Joseph A. Petolino - Palo Alto CA
Christopher D. Finan - Santa Clara CA
Jeffrey T. Isozaki - San Jose CA
Nicholas Y. Pang - Sunnyvale CA
Assignee:
Amdahl Corporation - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G06F 1100
US Classification:
371 38
Abstract:
A system for updating an ECC code over a line in a data store when only part of the line has been updated is described. The system receives the update and its address, decodes the address to generate a first signal identifying the part of the line to be updated and a second signal identifying an un-updated part of the section. The data of the update and the first signal are used to generate a first partial error code. Data from the un-updated part of the line is read as the update is written to the store. The data from the un-updated part of the section and the second signal are used to generate a second partial error code. Finally, the first and second partial error codes are combined to generate the updated error code.
