Abstract:
Non-human animals that have been manipulated so as not to express a functional p19 and p27 proteins are described. One particular non-human animal exemplified is a p19 -double null, p27 -double null mouse. Such knockout mice exhibit bradykinesia, proprioceptive abnormalities, seizure-like activity, and generally die 14-24 days after birth. In addition, mammalian cells having the p19 -double null, p27 -double null genotype are characterized. Methods of making and using the non-human knockout animals and cells are disclosed.

US Patent:
20210324412, Oct 21, 2021
Filed:
Apr 15, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/231328
Inventors:
- Los Angeles CA, US
Neil I. SEGIL - Altadena CA, US
Xizi WANG - Arcadia CA, US
International Classification:
C12N 15/86
A61K 9/00
C12N 7/00
A61P 27/16
Abstract:
A method for inducing sensory receptor regeneration includes a step of identifying a subject in need of regeneration of inner ear sensory epithelia. Yap/Tead signaling in the subject is then activated. Typically, Yap/Tead signaling is activated by introducing an expression vector into the subject such that the expression vector contacts inner ear sensory epithelia in a sufficient amount to induce regeneration thereof. Characteristically, the expression vector encodes a constitutively active YAP gene.
