Redundant Data Path

View page
US Patent:
8301939, Oct 30, 2012
Filed:
May 23, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/805512
Inventors:
Chad N. Gloege - Brookings SD, US
Matthew R. Mueller - Brookings SD, US
Neil R. Burghardt - Brookings SD, US
Brett D. Wendler - Watertown SD, US
Assignee:
Daktronics, Inc. - Brookings SD
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714 43, 714 3, 714 11
Abstract:
Disclosed are redundant data path(s) for transmission of graphical data between components in a graphical display system. The redundant data path(s) are used to transmit graphical data by at least two independent means, so that if a failure in one data path occurs, a data transmitted via a separate data path can be used for display. The system is particularly advantageous for multiple-serial-module configurations. The redundant data path(s) minimize disruption of data display and make repair and maintenance of the display system more efficient. The invention includes apparatus for graphical display systems, and also includes methods of data transmission for graphical display systems, and methods of maintenance of graphical display systems.

Modular Display System

US Patent:
20070000849, Jan 4, 2007
Filed:
Nov 10, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/271404
Inventors:
Robert Lutz - Bruce SD, US
Matthew Mueller - Colman SD, US
Chad Gloege - Brookings SD, US
Neil Burghardt - Brookings SD, US
Harvey Mehlum - Ramona SD, US
Brett Wendler - Watertown SD, US
Russell Neyens - Brookings SD, US
Nathan Nearman - Brookings SD, US
Mark Dennis - Dell Rapids SD, US
Ryan Hansen - Watertown SD, US
International Classification:
A47F 7/00
US Classification:
211026000
Abstract:
A modular display system having individual stackable electronic display panels of convenient and portable size and mounting structures for the support thereof where the stackable electronic display panels mutually juxtapose, mate, and robustly and mutually and adjustably secure together by the use of connector plates at the top of stackable electronic display panels interfacing with interlocking lower connector assemblies and lower connector plate receptors at the bottom of an overhead vertically situated stackable electronic display panel and by interfacing of latches and cams of latch keeper assemblies at the sides of horizontally situated stackable electronic display panels to form a large electronic sign display. Spring-loaded slide pin assemblies foster rapid and secure connection between vertically situated stackable electronic display panels. Adjustment features are also incorporated to align each stackable electronic display panel.

Translation Table

US Patent:
20090021532, Jan 22, 2009
Filed:
May 23, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/805513
Inventors:
Chad N. Gloege - Brookings SD, US
Matthew R. Mueller - Brookings SD, US
Neil R. Burghardt - Brookings SD, US
Joseph G. Schulte - Brookings SD, US
Brett D. Wendler - Watertown SD, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
G06F 3/14
US Classification:
345647
Abstract:
The present invention relates to image displays and signage, and more particularly, to displays of custom or arbitrary shape. Such shaped displays include channel letter displays, logo or design displays, multiple displays in an assembly, multiple display modules, curved or round displays, or other arbitrary shaped or unusual aspect ratio displays. The present invention further relates to software, apparatus, and methods for a translation table which maps graphical data from an initial shape to an arbitrary shape for use on such displays.

Remote Power Supply

US Patent:
20090024929, Jan 22, 2009
Filed:
May 23, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/805511
Inventors:
Chad N. Gloege - Brookings SD, US
Matthew R. Mueller - Brookings SD, US
Neil R. Burghardt - Brookings SD, US
Harvey L. Mehlum - Ramona SD, US
Ryan M. Hansen - Watertown SD, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
715740
Abstract:
A remote power supply arrangement for graphical display systems. The remote power supply places one or more power supplies in a separate location, some distance apart from the graphical display, rather than within the display cabinet or module itself. Power is then transferred from the power supply to the display by electrical cords. The remote power supply provides lighter weight displays, less noise near the displays, and improved maintenance and repair. The invention includes apparatus, methods of providing remote power to displays.
