US Patent:
7032564, Apr 25, 2006
Filed:
Dec 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/021454
Inventors:
Nathan W. Kryglowski - Clawson MI, US
Kenneth J. Parker - Lake Orion MI, US
Tae-Kyung Kim - Sterling Heights MI, US
Kelly M. Newby - Eastpoint MI, US
Assignee:
Gaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F02D 13/06
US Classification:
123198F, 123 9016
Abstract:
An electro-hydraulic manifold assembly for deactivation of the valves of one bank of cylinders in a V-10 engine. One solenoid valve controls flow of oil to the hydraulic valve lifter/lash adjuster of a single or first cylinder, a second valve controls flow of oil to the lifters/lash adjusters of cylinders two and five and a third valve controls oil flow to the lifters/lash adjusters for cylinders two and three by taking advantage of the common base circle position of the cams for the paired cylinders.

Solenoid Operated Valve And Method Of Making Same

View page
US Patent:
7051993, May 30, 2006
Filed:
Mar 10, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/797488
Inventors:
Tae-Kyung Kim - Sterling Heights MI, US
Kenneth J. Parker - Lake Orion MI, US
Charles Chang - Rochester Hills MI, US
Nathan W. Kryglowski - Clawson MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16K 31/02
US Classification:
25112915
Abstract:
A solenoid operated valve has first flux collector, bobbin with coil and an armature assembled onto a valve body with a tubular housing received over the body and first portions of the housing, in the form of tabs, deformed over the bobbin flange to retain the assembly. A second flux collector with adjustable pole price is then assembled adjacent the bobbin and retained in place by deformation of second portions of the housing. The pole piece is accessible exteriorly for adjustment through the end of the housing.

Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
H01R 13/64
US Classification:
439680, 439397, 439252, 439681, 137884, 13731503
Abstract:
A lead frame has slots therein for bayonet type connection to electrical terminals provided on a solenoid valve or group of valves. Projections on the lead frame are disposed between the slots and upon bayonet connection to the terminals closely interfit a web disposed between the terminals on the solenoid. Preferably, support stanchions are provided for the terminals and may be integrally molded with the web.

Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly For V-Type Engines

View page
US Patent:
20060075980, Apr 13, 2006
Filed:
Oct 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/961449
Inventors:
Tae-Kyung Kim - Sterling Heights MI, US
Nathan Kryglowski - Clawson MI, US
Kelly Newby - East Pointe MI, US
International Classification:
F01L 9/02
F01L 1/14
US Classification:
123090120, 123090590
Abstract:
According to the invention, multiple-cylinder internal combustion engines comprise a lifter oil manifold assembly (LOMA) positioned in an improved and beneficial manner. In one embodiment, engines of the invention comprise an engine block comprising a V-valley in which the LOMA is mounted such that longitudinal axes of the plurality of solenoid control valves therein are positioned essentially perpendicular to a vertical axis centrally extending from an angle formed by the V-valley of the engine block. In another embodiment, V-valley of such an engine not only comprises a LOMA but also includes a balance shaft.

Electro-Hydraulic Assembly For Controlling Engine Valve Deactivation

US Patent:
7007641, Mar 7, 2006
Filed:
Dec 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/022421
Inventors:
Nathan W. Kryglowski - Clawson MI, US
Kenneth J. Parker - Lake Orion MI, US
Charles Chang - Rochester Hills MI, US
Tae-Kyung Kim - Sterling Heights MI, US
Kelly M. Newby - Eastpoint MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F01L 9/04
US Classification:
123 9011, 123 9015, 123 9038, 1231933, 123195 A, 123198 F, 123 9037, 24822611, 2482273, 298883
Abstract:
A Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly or LOMA has a metal deckplate with a non-metallic valve mount/stiffener having elastomeric seals on the surface contacting the deckplate. The electrically operated valves for controlling flow to individual valve lifters are mounted on bosses formed on the valve mount/stiffener. A bracket retains the valves on the valve mount/stiffener and the valve mount/stiffener on the deckplate when assembled on the engine by through bolts.
