US Patent:
20160163337, Jun 9, 2016
Filed:
Feb 17, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/045563
Inventors:
- Cupertino CA, US
Eric Singleton - Maple Plain MN, US
Vasudevan Ramaswamy - Edina MN, US
Mohammed Patwari - Edina MN, US
Taras Pokhil - Arden Hills MN, US
Jae-Young Li - Prior Lake MN, US
International Classification:
G11B 5/31
G11B 5/09
G11B 5/115
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a magnetic stack are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the magnetic stack includes first and second shield layers, and a magnetically responsive lamination disposed between the first and second shield layers. The magnetically responsive lamination can be configured to receive a sense current Itherethrough. The magnetic stack also includes a cooling element disposed between the first and second shield layers and thermally coupled to the magnetically responsive lamination. The cooling element can be configured to receive a bias current Itherethrough. And the cooling element can be configured to cool the magnetically responsive lamination during a read function.

US Patent:
20160118066, Apr 28, 2016
Filed:
Oct 15, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/884527
Inventors:
- Cupertino CA, US
Taras Pokhil - Arden Hills MN, US
Andrzej Stankiewicz - Edina MN, US
Mohammed Patwari - Eden Prairie MN, US
Eric Singleton - Maple Plain MN, US
International Classification:
G11B 5/39
F27D 19/00
Abstract:
A reader sensor having a dusting layer having a thickness less than 5 Angstroms between and in contact with the AFM layer and with the pinned layer. The dusting layer comprises a non-magnetic, electrically conducting material, such as ruthenium or iridium. The reader sensor has a free layer composed of a material free of nickel (Ni).

Filed:
Aug 31, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/840411
Inventors:
- Cupertino CA, US
Victor Sapozhnikov - Minnetonka MN, US
Taras Pokhil - Arden Hills MN, US
Jae-Young Yi - Prior Lakes MN, US
Mohammed Patwari - Eden Prairie MN, US
Eric W. Singleton - Maple Plain MN, US
International Classification:
G01R 33/00
H01F 7/06
G01R 33/09
G11B 5/39
Abstract:
Implementations described and claimed herein provide a system comprising an external magnetic field generator, wherein the external field magnetic field generator is configured to rock an effective annealing magnetic field between a first positive angle and a second negative angle compared to a desired pinning field orientation in an AFM/PL structure.
