Method And Apparatus For Improving Intelligibility Of Audible Speech Represented By A Speech Signal

View page
US Patent:
8321215, Nov 27, 2012
Filed:
Nov 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/623883
Inventors:
Rogerio Guedes Alves - Macomb MI, US
Kuan-chieh Yen - Northville MI, US
Michael Christopher Vartanian - Commerce Township MI, US
Sameer Arun Gadre - Northville MI, US
Assignee:
Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Cambridge
International Classification:
G10L 11/04
US Classification:
704225, 704207
Abstract:
The perceived quality of a speech signal is improved by estimating the average power of first and second signal components and applying a first gain factor to the second signal components to generate adjusted second signal components. The first gain factor is selected such that on application of the first gain factor to the second signal components, the ratio of the average power of the first signal components to the average power of the adjusted second signal components would be a first predetermined value, the first predetermined value being such as to inhibit perceptual distortion of the improved speech signal.

US Patent:
8489393, Jul 16, 2013
Filed:
Nov 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/623896
Inventors:
Rogerio Guedes Alves - Macomb MI, US
Kuan-chieh Yen - Northville MI, US
Michael Christopher Vartanian - Commerce Township MI, US
Sameer Arun Gadre - Northville MI, US
Assignee:
Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Cambridge
International Classification:
G10L 19/00
US Classification:
704219, 704223, 375243
Abstract:
The perceived quality of a narrowband speech signal truncated from a wideband speech signal is improved by generating in a third frequency band third speech components matching first speech components in a first frequency band of the narrowband signal, and generating in a fourth frequency band fourth speech components matching second speech components in a second frequency band of the narrowband signal. A first gain factor is applied to the third speech components to generate adjusted third speech components, and a second gain factor is applied to the fourth speech components to generate adjusted fourth speech components, the gain factors being selected such that the ratios of the average powers of the adjusted third and fourth speech components to the average power of the first speech components are predetermined values.

US Patent:
20110125494, May 26, 2011
Filed:
Nov 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/623933
Inventors:
Rogerio Guedes Alves - Macomb MI, US
Kuan-Chieh Yen - Northville MI, US
Michael Christopher Vartanian - Commerce Township MI, US
Sameer Arun Gadre - Northville MI, US
Assignee:
CAMBRIDGE SILICON RADIO LIMITED - Cambridge
International Classification:
G10L 21/02
US Classification:
704226, 704E21002
Abstract:
The perceived quality of a speech signal output from a user apparatus is improved by storing ambient noise profiles each indicating a model power distribution of a respective ambient noise type as a function of frequency; the ambient noise profile at the user apparatus is measured, the measured ambient noise profile is correlated with each of the stored ambient noise profiles, the stored ambient noise profile is selected with which the measured ambient noise profile is most highly correlated, and the speech signal is manipulated in dependence on which of the stored ambient noise profiles is selected, so as to form an improved speech signal.

Dynamic Mesh System

View page
US Patent:
20180198848, Jul 12, 2018
Filed:
Jan 29, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/882165
Inventors:
- Walled Lake MI, US
Eric Mohr - Walled Lake MI, US
Daniel Anthony - Walled Lake MI, US
Ammar Muhsen - Walled Lake MI, US
Michael Vartanian - Walled Lake MI, US
Assignee:
SARGON PARTNERS - Walled Lake MI
International Classification:
H04L 29/08
H05B 37/02
H04W 84/18
H04W 48/16
G06N 5/02
Abstract:
A dynamic mesh system may be provided for a mesh including a network brain, a base node and a set of basic nodes. The system may provide operations to compare an old code with a new code, send a command to a base node instructing a set of basic nodes to change from an application mode to a boot mode, send a message including the new code to the set of basic nodes, update the new code on the set of basic nodes, and change the mesh by instructing the set of basic nodes to change to the application mode. A method and computer-readable medium may also be provided.

Method And Apparatus For Context-Augmented Speech Recognition

View page
US Patent:
20170133015, May 11, 2017
Filed:
Nov 11, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/938338
Inventors:
Bernard P. TOMSA - West Bloomfield MI, US
Michael C. VARTANIAN - Commerce Township MI, US
International Classification:
G10L 15/24
G01C 21/20
G10L 15/06
G10L 15/26
G10L 15/22
Abstract:
A system includes a processor configured to receive speech-input. The processor is further configured to receive at least one location-identification. Also, the processor is configured to determine a location-related context based on the location-identification. The processor is additionally configured to access a context-related vocabulary based on the location-related context. The processor is also configured to search for word matches from the speech-input in the context-related vocabulary and provide match candidates found within the context-related vocabulary as translation of some or all of the speech-input into text.

Method And Apparatus For Context Based User Interface Presentation

View page
US Patent:
20160134746, May 12, 2016
Filed:
Nov 11, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/938366
Inventors:
Bernard P. TOMSA - West Bloomfield MI, US
Michael C. VARTANIAN - Commerce Township MI, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/725
H04W 4/00
H04W 4/02
Abstract:
Through use of the illustrative embodiments, users can have device-related applications presented at the appropriate times when the user is proximate to a given device, in communication with the device, and will likely want to use an application related to the device. Since the user can configure the menu, undesired applications can be relegated to lower levels of importance when display space is limited, and when devices cannot communicate with a user mobile device, other context can be utilized to determine which applications to load. Other context can also be used whenever desired in lieu of communicating with devices, to determine the presentation and ordering of applications on a mobile device, so a user can benefit from these concepts even if communication with local devices or applications unrelated to local devices are desired. Efficient and appropriate usage of limited display space can be automatically obtained, so that a user is never too many clicks or scrolls away from a relevant application for a given situation based on that user's preferences.

Method For Embedding Product Information In Video Using Radio Frequencey Information

View page
US Patent:
20150350561, Dec 3, 2015
Filed:
May 28, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/289307
Inventors:
- Cambridge, GB
Michael Christopher Vartanian - Commerce Township MI, US
Assignee:
Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Cambridge
International Classification:
H04N 5/265
G06F 17/30
H04N 5/04
G06K 9/46
G06K 9/00
G06K 9/52
Abstract:
Embodiments are directed towards tracking physical objects' pixel locations in a stream of video frames. Radio frequency (RF) readers may be positioned relative to a scene. RF tags may be positioned in the scene at known pixel locations within the field of view of a video recording device. The RF tags may be enabled to generate RF signals to the RF readers. The RF readers may generate RF values based on the RF signals, which may be employed to determine a function to translate the RF values into known pixel locations within a video frame. An RF tag may be disposed at a physical location of at least one object within the scene. A stream of video frames and RF values may be recorded over time. The function may be employed to translate the recorded RF values into pixel locations for the least one object each recorded video frame.

In founding set theory, Cantor showed that the cardinality of the set Q of rational numbers is countably infinite; that Q may be extended by completion to obtain the set R of real numbers (we say that Q is countably dense in R); that any other countably dense subset of R is isomorphic to Q; and that...
