Cable Management System And Method Of Use Thereof

View page
US Patent:
7032277, Apr 25, 2006
Filed:
Oct 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/682868
Inventors:
Michael P. Rolla - Maynard MA, US
Denise M. Masson - Dracut MA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
A44B 21/00
US Classification:
24302, 361826
Abstract:
What is disclosed is a cable management system having a flexible main strap with an upper portion adapted to be secured to a first supporting surface in an electronic device, a middle portion with a plurality of mini straps attached thereon, and a lower portion adapted to be secured to a second supporting surface in the electronic device. The mini straps are capable of forming loops around a cable or cable assembly to restrict movement of the cable or cable assembly. Also disclosed is a method for managing cables in an electronic device. The method contains the steps of: attaching an upper portion of a main strap having a plurality of mini straps attached thereon to a first surface on the electronic device; organizing cables in the electronic device using the mini straps attached to the main strap; and attaching a lower portion of the main strap to a second surface on the electronic device.

Mount For Computer Drive

View page
US Patent:
7054153, May 30, 2006
Filed:
Oct 31, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/698560
Inventors:
Jeffrey M. Lewis - Maynard MA, US
Michael P. Rolla - Maynard MA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 1/16
US Classification:
361685, 361801, 360 9701, 439153
Abstract:
A mount for a computer drive. The mount has a base structure having a plurality of lateral retainers and a top structure mountable to the base structure over a drive region. The top structure also has an arcuate drive interface extendable into the drive region.

Rack-Mounted Bracket Assembly

View page
US Patent:
20060283816, Dec 21, 2006
Filed:
Jun 21, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/157739
Inventors:
David Moore - Ashby MA, US
Jeffrey Lewis - Southboro MA, US
Michael Rolla - Maynard MA, US
International Classification:
A47F 7/00
US Classification:
211026000
Abstract:
A rack-mounted bracket assembly comprises a main member having a first end, a second end, and a shelf therebetween. A set of long tabs is disposed on the first end of the main member. A set of short tabs is disposed on the second end of the main member. A retention latch is connected to the main member and limits the movement of the bracket within a rack.

Resonant Technique And Apparatus For Thermal Capacitor Screening

View page
US Patent:
51011069, Mar 31, 1992
Filed:
Apr 2, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/679118
Inventors:
Eldon E. Cox - Lowell MA
Michael P. Rolla - Maynard MA
Assignee:
Digital Equipment Corporation - Maynard MA
International Classification:
G01R 3100
US Classification:
2503161
Abstract:
A method and system for driving a plurality of transient decoupling capacitors connected in a circuit in order to heat them and to screen them via a thermal image of them. Radio-frequency excitation is provided for the purpose by connecting a pulse driver through an inductive circuit and a series capacitance to supply a driving current to the decoupling capacitors. The inductance is selected to yield resonance at a selected frequency; and the series capacitance provides a voltage divider to help set the frequency and to adjust the level of the drive of the decoupling capacitors.

Low-Profile Cooling Assembly For The Cpu Chip Of A Computer Or The Like

View page
US Patent:
63173190, Nov 13, 2001
Filed:
Jul 26, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/626204
Inventors:
Jeffrey M. Lewis - Maynard MA
Michael R. Rolla - Maynard MA
Robert L. Sullivan - Townnsend MA
Assignee:
Compaq Computer Corporation - Houston TX
International Classification:
H05K 720
US Classification:
361695
Abstract:
A cooling assembly for cooling a CPU on a motherboard in a low profile electronic device. The assembly comprises a channel-shaped heat sink having a flat first wall, an opposite wall, open first and second ends and internal heat exchange fins extending between those walls and ends. An electric blower having an inlet and an outlet is mounted to the heat sink so that the blower outlet is aligned with the first end of the heat sink and the heat sink is anchored to the CPU so that the first wall of the heat sink is flush against the CPU and the blower inlet overhangs an edge of the motherboard. Preferably, a baffle member is mounted to the heat sink to direct heated air from the second end of the heat sink to the atmosphere and to prevent recirculation of that air back to the blower inlet.

Product Defect Detection Using Thermal Ratio Analysis

View page
US Patent:
50327275, Jul 16, 1991
Filed:
Sep 14, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/582102
Inventors:
Eldon E. Cox - Lowell MA
Michael P. Rolla - Maynard MA
Assignee:
Digital Equipment Corporation - Maynard MA
International Classification:
H01L 3100
US Classification:
250330
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for indicating defects in manufactured products employs, instead of the conventional thermal image subtraction, "thermal ratio analysis", which involves ratios of thermal data and their analysis including statistical analysis. Various techniques for "image" enhancement and for suppression of known artifacts are employed to facilitate the decision as to when a defect is detected. The thermal ratio analysis technique is particularly useful for detecting hidden defects in electronic circuitry, such as integrated circuits.
