Ink Jet Recording Sheet, Method For The Preparation Of Same, And Ink Jet Recording Method Using Same

View page
US Patent:
20030152720, Aug 14, 2003
Filed:
Aug 30, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/233129
Inventors:
Michael Lubar - Miamisburg OH, US
International Classification:
B41M005/00
US Classification:
428/032250, 428/032180, 428/032190, 428/032330, 428/032370
Abstract:
An ink jet recording sheet includes a substrate, an ink receiving layer, and a clay-containing layer between the paper substrate and the ink receiving layer. The clay-containing layer contains platelet clay particles having an average aspect ratio of at least 10:1, and an orientation such that at least 50% of the platelet clay particles have a major axis within 30 of parallel to the substrate. The sheet exhibits little or no cockle formation, even at high ink laydowns. A method of preparing the ink jet recording sheet and a method of printing using the ink jet recording sheet are also described.

Degradable Agricultural Mulch Sheeting

View page
US Patent:
47826266, Nov 8, 1988
Filed:
Apr 23, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/602989
Inventors:
Gerard E. Shanley - Madison NJ
Michael J. Lubar - Phillipsburg NJ
Assignee:
Keuffel & Esser Company - Rockaway NJ
International Classification:
A01G 700
US Classification:
47 9
Abstract:
Agricultural mulch sheeting which provides soil moisture retention and weed control during the growing season, yet is readily degradable when harrowed into the soil after harvest, comprises a creped natural kraft paper coated on both sides with a polyvinylidene chloride latex dispersion. The coating on one side of the sheet includes carbon black which provides the opacity to prevent weed growth while also yielding a reversible sheet which may be installed to absorb or reflect the sun's rays. The mulch may also include a sleeve of the same material sealed to the upper surface of the main sheet to form a conduit for irrigating water which seeps into the underlying soil through a row of puctures in the sheet.

US Patent:
55320643, Jul 2, 1996
Filed:
Oct 10, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/541289
Inventors:
Michael J. Lubar - Endicott NY
Assignee:
Azon Corporation - Johnson City NY
International Classification:
B05D 504
B41M 500
US Classification:
4284782
Abstract:
The present invention features a printing film medium for receiving ink jet inks, including a primary ink-absorption layer having photographic-type gelatin in admixture with an amide in low concentration, generally less than approximately 1% or 2% by weight. The preferred amide is dicyandiamide in approximately 0. 6% by weight. The gelatin layer is overlaid upon an acrylic polymer layer, which is, in turn, layered upon a film base.

Ink Jet Recording Medium

US Patent:
58886290, Mar 30, 1999
Filed:
May 22, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/651458
Inventors:
Michael J. Lubar - Endicott NY
Assignee:
Azon Corporation - Johnson City NY
International Classification:
B41M 500
US Classification:
428212
Abstract:
A medium for ink jet imaging includes a bottom layer of material having a very high absorption for the polar, solvent component of an ink jet imaging ink, together with a top layer of image receptor material disposed in fluid communication therewith. The bottom layer has a very high affinity for the solvent component of the ink and tends to draw the solvent from a body of ink thereby preventing image spread and producing a localized, highly saturated image.

Transferable Medium For Inkjet Printing

US Patent:
60429143, Mar 28, 2000
Filed:
Nov 15, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/151454
Inventors:
Michael J. Lubar - Endwell NY
Assignee:
Azon Corporation - Johnson City NY
International Classification:
B32B 2708
B32B 2718
B32B 2730
B32B 2742
US Classification:
428 414
Abstract:
The present invention features a method of applying images and text to surfaces that ordinarily cannot fit within an inkjet printing machine, such as license plate blanks. The method of the invention uses a specially designed transfer sheet to receive inkjet ink images and text. The carrier layer of the transfer sheet containing the inkjet image and text is removed or otherwise peeled from the transfer sheet backing and then adhered to the license plate blank. A computer is used to construct the inkjet image and text that are printed onto the carrier surface of the transfer sheet. A final resin/pigment layer is coated upon the upper surface of the carrier layer in order to receive the inkjet ink that has been fashioned into image and text by means of the computer.
