View page
US Patent:
6461287, Oct 8, 2002
Filed:
Jul 22, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/358525
Inventors:
Michael Glater - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Thermo Savant Inc. - Holbrook NY
International Classification:
B04B 502
US Classification:
494 16, 494 13, 494 61, 494 34, 494 83, 159DIG 11
Abstract:
A large capacity centrifugal vacuum concentrator includes a rotor assembly mounting a plurality of vertical spaced rotors mounted on a drive shaft and intervened with spacers between each lower rotor and a rotor next above, the rotors and spacers having interengaging drive transmission means for transmitting drive to the rotors and spacers when the drive shaft is driven. The rotor assembly is enclosed by a, e. g. , cylindrical stainless steel cover which sits on a base and with the base defines a vacuum chamber. When the cover is elevated to open position, four quadrant access is available for loading and unloading of samples on the rotors. The rotor assembly is made up of interchangeable rotors, spacers and vessel holder frames which are selected from families of such dependent on particular vessel capacity and holder frame requirements.

Portable Particle Spreader/Blower

US Patent:
7281675, Oct 16, 2007
Filed:
Aug 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/203881
Inventors:
Marcos Elrod - Brooklyn NY, US
Michael Glater - Brooklyn NY, US
International Classification:
A01C 3/00
A01C 7/00
A01C 15/00
A01C 19/00
E01C 19/20
US Classification:
239663, 239650, 239653, 239 99, 239677
Abstract:
A portable, user shoulder supported spreader/blower unit includes an ergonomically configured housing which includes a section defining a storage bin for holding a quantity of salt or like chemical particulate material for spreading onto ground surfaces to prevent icing thereon in winter. A centrifugal distributor disk is located in a housing space section below the bin and, a bin discharge aperture aligns over a peripheral area of the distributor disk. A user controllable closure member selectively alters bin discharge aperture size and, hence, outflow quantity from the bin onto the distributor disk, the distributor disk rotating at high speed propelling particulate material out of the housing through a discharge nozzle thereon at a high speed. e. g. , 60 m/sec when the unit is user in a spreader mode. To further enhance carry of the particulate material from the housing, a fan impeller mounted in the housing in the common space wherein the distributor disk operates, is rotated at high speed to produce air flow supplementing energy imparted to the particulate material.
