Pressure Fuel Servicing Nozzle

View page
US Patent:
6405768, Jun 18, 2002
Filed:
Jul 21, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/621410
Inventors:
Mark Randall McClaran - Orange CA
Assignee:
Cla-Val Co. - Costa Mesa CA
International Classification:
B67C 334
US Classification:
141346, 141348, 141351, 141384, 141386, 137614, 13761419, 251263
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pressure fuel servicing nozzle for mating with a standardized aircraft fueling adapter having an adapter valve biased in a closed position to prevent fuel flow. The fuel nozzle includes a nozzle body and a collar assembly coupled to the nozzle body. Fuel flow is prevented when the nozzle valve is in a fully retracted position and fuel flow is allowed when the nozzle valve is extended and when the nozzle valve pushes the adapter valve in a downstream direction. A bias member maintains the nozzle valve in fully open position when intimate contact between the valves is disrupted, such as when fuel flow forces the adapter valve further in the downstream direction. The fuel nozzle further includes a collar assembly rotatably coupled to the nozzle body such that the fuel nozzle is secured to the fueling adapter by engaging the fuel nozzle onto the fueling adapter and rotating the collar assembly about the nozzle body and fueling adapter. The collar assembly is adapted to form a first mechanical interference to prevent initial rotation of the collar: assembly about the nozzle body and fueling adapter, wherein the first mechanical interference is cleared by positioning the fuel nozzle onto the fueling adapter such that the lock tabs drive a member a distance a away from a first stop. The collar assembly is further adapted to form a second mechanical interference to prevent final rotation of the collar assembly about the nozzle body and fueling adapter, wherein the second mechanical interference is cleared by further positioning the fuel nozzle onto the fueling adapter such that the lock tabs drive the member a distance b away from a second stop.

Flow Compensated Pressure Control System

View page
US Patent:
56601980, Aug 26, 1997
Filed:
Dec 21, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/576151
Inventors:
Mark R. McClaran - Orange CA
Assignee:
J. C. Carter Company, Inc. - Costa Mesa CA
International Classification:
F16K 3112
US Classification:
137 12
Abstract:
A control system is provided for monitoring and regulating fluid pressure at a remote and/or potentially hazardous location along the length of a fluid flow conduit, without requiring a pressure sensor device at the remote site. The control system comprises a controller responsive to fluid pressure and flow rate readings taken at a convenient and/or safe location along the length of the flow conduit, to derive fluid pressure at the remote site. The controller provides a display of the derived pressure and/or operates a control valve at the safe site to regulate the pressure at the remote site.

Toggle Gate Valve

View page
US Patent:
44911459, Jan 1, 1985
Filed:
Aug 23, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/410662
Inventors:
Kenneth R. Williams - Huntington Beach CA
Mark R. McClaran - Orange CA
Peter D. Giacobbi - Villa Park CA
Assignee:
Johnston Pump/General Valve, Inc. - Glendora CA
International Classification:
F16K 2300
US Classification:
137312
Abstract:
A toggle gate valve having a double block and bleed retractable sealing configuration which utilizes accurately positioned steel inserts as trim assembly guide plates to permit a significant reduction in valve body machining. The valve body as well as removable upper and lower bonnets form a pressure boundary that houses a toggle link actuated seal plate to close the valve and a through-conduit that is coaxially aligned with the input and output ports when the valve is opened. A novel stem configuration and removable through-conduit permit field servicing of the trim assembly (plug and seal plate) by means of access through the lower bonnet/body interface.

Pressure Fuel Servicing Nozzle

US Patent:
61421944, Nov 7, 2000
Filed:
Mar 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/265018
Inventors:
Mark Randall McClaran - Orange CA
Assignee:
Cla-Val - Costa Mesta CA
International Classification:
B67C 334
US Classification:
141346
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pressure fuel servicing nozzle for mating with a standardized aircraft fueling adapter having a cylindrical extension with a plurality of indexing notches and a plurality of radially extending lock tabs. The fuel nozzle includes a nozzle body having an outer surface and an interior passage. A collar assembly is rotatably supported upon the outer surface of the nozzle body. A plurality of locating pins having a rectangular cross-section extend outwardly from the bottom base of the nozzle body. The fuel nozzle is properly aligned onto the fueling adapter by fitting the locating pins in the indexing notches of the fueling adapter such that the two opposing side faces contact the surfaces of the indexing notches. The fuel servicing nozzle further includes an interlock plate biased toward an exterior of the nozzle body by a plurality of spaced springs. The interlock plate has a plurality of apertures through which the locating pins pass.

Air And Vacuum Relief Valve

US Patent:
47428430, May 10, 1988
Filed:
Aug 19, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/086976
Inventors:
Mark R. McClaran - Orange CA
Assignee:
Rain Bird Sprinkler Mfg. Corp. - Glendora CA
International Classification:
F16K 3122
US Classification:
137202
Abstract:
An air and vacuum relief value having a cylindrical housing defining a chamber and an aerodynamically shaped float body disposed for movement within said chamber between a lower, open position and an upper closed position, the float body having a generally inverted pear-shape configuration to prevent premature valve closure.

Irrigation Boom Assembly

View page
US Patent:
47353651, Apr 5, 1988
Filed:
Jul 27, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/080256
Inventors:
Donald W. Smeller - Irvine CA
Stephen H. Govero - Glendora CA
Mark R. McClaran - Orange CA
Assignee:
Rain Bird Sprinkler Mfg. Corp. - Glendora CA
International Classification:
B05B 300
US Classification:
239735
Abstract:
An improved irrigation boom assembly is provided for relatively rapid and easy mounting onto the main water distribution pipe of a traveling irrigation system, particularly such as a center pivot or linear travel system. The improved boom assembly includes a water supply drop pipe adapted for rapid and secure mounting onto the main distribution pipe by an improved clamp assembly and for receiving water from the distribution pipe via a flexible feed hose. The drop pipe has a manifold at its lower end designed for facilitated connection to a lightweight boom comprising a pair of elongated wing tubes cantilevered outwardly therefrom in opposite directions, wherein the wing tubes are each supported in an adjustably selected geometry by a respective pair of support cables anchored between the drop pipe and the wing tube and threaded through support struts mounted at spaced intervals along the wing tube spans. The outboard end of each wing tube includes an easily removable end fitting to permit periodic flushing. Irrigation spray heads are easily mounted onto the wing tube end fittings and further to the drop pipe manifold and at selected points along the wing tubes to provide the desired irrigation coverage.
