Desensitizing Database Information

View page
US Patent:
7797341, Sep 14, 2010
Filed:
Apr 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/799212
Inventors:
Maria G. Castellanos - Palo Alto CA, US
Bin Zhang - Palo Alto CA, US
Umeshwar Dayal - Palo Alto CA, US
Ivo Jimenez - Palo Alto CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707783, 707785
Abstract:
In a method of preserving characteristics of desensitized database information for use in database management system benchmarking, at least one column of sensitive data from a database is accessed. The at least one column of sensitive data is sorted into a sorted data representation. Desensitized data is generated by sequentially mapping ascending different values of the sorted data representation to ascending desensitized values generated according to a strictly monotone increasing randomly generated function. The mapping results in a plurality of mapped desensitized values which are associated with the sorted data representation. The mapped desensitized values are unsorted into a desensitized database according to sorting information related to the sorted data representation. As a result of the unsorting, cardinalities of the at least one column of sensitive data are maintained within the desensitized database.

Method And Apparatus For Creating A Digital Dashboard

View page
US Patent:
8291334, Oct 16, 2012
Filed:
Apr 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/799427
Inventors:
Maria G. Castellanos - Palo Alto CA, US
Fabio Casati - Trento, IT
Mehmet Sayal - Palo Alto CA, US
Umeshwar Dayal - Palo Alto CA, US
Ming-Chien Shan - Palo Alto CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
G06F 3/01
US Classification:
715769
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a method and an apparatus for creating a digital dashboard. One embodiment provides a dashboard palette in an application. In addition, at least one object is provided for the dashboard palette, wherein at least one property of the at least one object is linked to a data source. The at least one object is then coupled with the dashboard palette to form a dashboard description. The dashboard description is then exported to a dashboard creator and publisher, wherein the dashboard creator and publisher provide a functional dashboard based on the dashboard description.

Method And A System For Process Discovery

View page
US Patent:
8631391, Jan 14, 2014
Filed:
Jan 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/041653
Inventors:
Fabio Casati - Palo Alto CA, US
Mehmet Sayal - Sunnyvale CA, US
Maria Guadalupe Castellanos - Sunnyvale CA, US
Yifan Li - Urbana IL, US
Ming-Chien Shan - Saratoga CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717128
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and a method for process discovery. Embodiments of the present invention comprise extracting process data from a data source, creating a trace using the extracted process data, wherein the trace comprises a plurality of events, and detecting a process model using the plurality of events.

Method For Content Mining Of Semi-Structured Documents

View page
US Patent:
20030140311, Jul 24, 2003
Filed:
Jan 18, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/053987
Inventors:
Michael Lemon - Palo Alto CA, US
Maria Castellanos - Sunnyvale CA, US
James Stinger - Palo Alto CA, US
International Classification:
G06F015/16
US Classification:
715/513000, 715/530000
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method for content mining of semi-structured documents. In one embodiment, a semi-structured document is first converted from a document-type specific format such as HTML or PDF, to a document-type independent format such as XML. The document formatting, which contains basic level information about the document's structure, is then analyzed by a series of modules to develop a higher level understanding of the document's structure. These modules append information to the document describing the features which collectively comprise the higher level document structure. The appended information facilitates finding specified information within the document when content mining is performed.

Analyzing Decision Points In Business Processes

View page
US Patent:
20030236689, Dec 25, 2003
Filed:
Jun 21, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/177423
Inventors:
Fabio Casati - Palo Alto CA, US
Mehmet Sayal - Sunnyvale CA, US
Maria Castellanos - Sunnyvale CA, US
Dimitrios Gunopulos - Riverside CA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/007000
Abstract:
Systems and methods of analyzing decision points in a business process are described. In one aspect, process execution data that is generated by a workflow management system during execution of one or more instances of a business process involving a set of one or more activities and a set of one or more decision points is accessed. Based upon the accessed process execution data, a predictive quantitative model including a set of one or more rules correlating context data at different stages of the business process with business process outcomes at one or more decision points in the business process is built. In another aspect, one or more rules correlating context data at different stages of the business process with business process outcomes at one or more decision points in the business process are presented to a user.

Determining A Spatiotemporal Impact Of A Planned Event On Traffic

View page
US Patent:
20140039782, Feb 6, 2014
Filed:
Jul 31, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/562490
Inventors:
Chetan Kumar Gupta - San Mateo CA, US
Sergey Serebryakov - Saint Petersburg, RU
Maria G. Castellanos - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
G08G 1/052
US Classification:
701119
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for determining an impact of a planned event. Traffic flow velocity is measured at each of a plurality of traffic sensors over a period of time before the planned event, with each traffic sensor having an associated geographical location. A plurality of measured traffic flow velocities for each traffic sensor are stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium. A traffic flow velocity at each traffic sensor is measured at each of a plurality of representative times within a defined time period including a known start time and an expected end time of the event. A threshold velocity is calculated from the stored traffic flow velocities for each traffic sensor corresponding to each representative time. For each representative time, a set of traffic sensors is determined at which the measured traffic flow velocity during the defined time period is less than the threshold velocity.
