Precision Liquid Dispensing System

View page
US Patent:
7410615, Aug 12, 2008
Filed:
Jan 17, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/347085
Inventors:
Robert E. Krug - Naperville IL, US
William Austhof - Oswego IL, US
Dennis Makowski - Yorkville IL, US
Daniel L. Bantz - Naperville IL, US
Marek Turewicz - Lake Forest IL, US
Assignee:
PERKINELMER LAS, Inc. - Waltham PA
International Classification:
B01L 3/02
B01L 3/00
US Classification:
422100, 422103, 436180
Abstract:
A system for dispensing microdrops of reagent in small, precisely metered quantities maintains the fluid reagent to be dispensed in a reservoir under a controlled pressure. The reagent is dispensed through multiple nozzles connected to solenoid-actuated valves that control the flow of the reagent from the reservoir to the nozzles. Each valve is connected to one of the nozzles and electrical pulses are supplied separately to each of the valves to separately control the opening and closing of each valve to dispense predetermined quantities of the reagent through each nozzle at predetermined times.

Filed:
Jun 10, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/813282
Inventors:
Marek Turewicz - Westlake Village CA, US
Paul Pagano - Moorpark CA, US
David Sauvageau - Thousand Oaks CA, US
Assignee:
CYNVENIO BIOSYSTEMS, INC. - Westlake Village CA
International Classification:

US Classification:
4352872, 422 681, 422 8205, 422 8201, 204600, 4352871, 264241
Abstract:
Flexible pouch and flexible cartridge devices for fluid sample processing, related methods of making and using, related manufacturing systems and related instrumentation systems are described. Flexible pouches provide broad advantage in a wide variety of fields by overcoming the need for complex instrumentation, dedicated devices, and relatively high cost in conventional fluid sample devices. Flexible cartridge devices are particularly advantageous in control of fluid handling, rapid adaptation to a number of configurations by the end user, multiple uses for a single configuration, and in cost and ease of manufacture.

Modular Reaction Block Assembly With Thermoelectric Cooling And Heating

View page
US Patent:
60868317, Jul 11, 2000
Filed:
Jun 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/090021
Inventors:
James R. Harness - Lake Zurich IL
Larry W. Markus - Mundelein IL
Andrew J. Grzybowski - Spring Grove IL
Rudy H. Haidle - Evanston IL
Marek Turewicz - Lake Forest IL
Assignee:
Mettler-Toledo Bohdan, Inc. - Vernon Hills IL
International Classification:
F25B 2102
F25B 2900
US Classification:
422199
Abstract:
An array of reaction assemblies for heating and cooling a plurality of reaction vessels. Each reaction vessel assembly including a heat conductive reaction block having an exterior wall and a reaction vessel receiving cavity formed in the block inwardly of the exterior wall. A thermoelectric module is mounted in heat transfer engagement with the exterior wall of the heat conductive reaction block. A fluid heat exchange element is mounted in heat transfer engagement with the thermoelectric module. The thermoelectric module has its junctions to selectively remove heat from the exterior wall of the reaction block or to supply heat to this exterior wall. Each thermoelectric module has thermoelectric junctions cascaded for increased heating and cooling range and a plurality of these junctions to increase capacity.
