Efficient Finite Impulse Response Filter Implementation For Cdma Waveform Generation

View page
US Patent:
6678320, Jan 13, 2004
Filed:
Aug 31, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/144533
Inventors:
Levent Aydin - Del Mar CA
Assignee:
Qualcomm, Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H03H 730
US Classification:
375235, 375140
Abstract:
A finite impulse response filter including a first circuit for providing plural delayed signals in response to an input signal. A second circuit is included for multiplying respective ones of the delayed signals by a corresponding coefficient and providing a respective intermediate signal in response thereto. A third circuit selectively changes the sign of respective ones of a first set of the intermediate output signals to provide a set of component in-phase signals. A fourth circuit selectively changes the sign of respective ones of a second set of the intermediate output signals to provide a set of component quadrature signals. The component in-phase signals are combined to provide an in-phase output signal and the component quadrature signals are combined to provide a quadrature output signal. In the illustrative implementation, the coefficients are generated in accordance with an industry standard via a storage device such as a register bank. The third and fourth circuits are controlled by a pseudo-noise sequence generator.

Simplified Quality Indicator Bit Test Procedures

View page
US Patent:
6735216, May 11, 2004
Filed:
Mar 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/822947
Inventors:
Tao Chen - San Diego CA
Vince Ryo Butsumyo - San Diego CA
Levent Aydin - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Qualcomm, Inc.
International Classification:
H04Q 700
US Classification:
370441, 375224, 455 69
Abstract:
In a code division multiple access communication system, a method and apparatus provide for an efficient testing of operating behavior of a quality indicator bit. The method and the accompanying apparatus include configuring a receiver to expect to receive a communication channel at a full data rate, and transmitting a signal from a transmitter to the receiver. The signal is carrying the communication channel at a data rate other than said full data rate, and at a power level for receiving at the full data rate. Consequently, the receiver fails to receive the communication channel at the full data rate. A received signal to noise ratio of the received signal at the receiver is determined. A value of the quality indicator bit is determined based on the determined signal to noise ratio. The determined value of the quality indicator bit is communicated to the transmitter.

Abstract:
A method for Automatic Gain Control (AGC) in a receiver is performed by a circuit having an inner loop and an outer loop. The method includes performing an outer loop energy detection, mitigating interference using the outer loop energy detection, and performing a frequency domain energy measurement in the inner loop. The method also includes adjusting a digital gain component in the inner loop and an analog gain component in the outer loop in response to the frequency domain energy measurement.

Downlink Flow Control By Adding Noise To A Receiver To Reduce Physical Layer Throughput

US Patent:
20120176922, Jul 12, 2012
Filed:
Jan 5, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/344322
Inventors:
Navid Ehasan - San Diego CA, US
Thomas Klingenbrunn - San Diego CA, US
Brian Clarke Banister - San Diego CA, US
Michael L. McCloud - San Diego CA, US
Levent Aydin - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 24/00
US Classification:
370252
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications and techniques and apparatus for downlink flow control at the physical layer of a user equipment (UE). Aspects generally include monitoring one or more parameters related to the UE and intentionally reducing channel quality based on the one or more parameters to trigger downlink flow control. According to aspects, channel quality may be reduced by degrading receiver performance and/or intentionally adding noise to a signal.

Methods And Apparatus To Reduce Power Consumption For Harq Decoding

US Patent:
20130064153, Mar 14, 2013
Filed:
Sep 13, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/613826
Inventors:
Thomas Klingenbrunn - San Diego CA, US
Brian Clarke Banister - San Diego CA, US
Navid Ehsan - San Diego CA, US
Levent Aydin - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM INCORPORATED - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 52/02
US Classification:

Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure may help reduce power consumption by allowing a UE to remain in a low power state by not attempting to decode ACK/NACK transmissions after receiving a positive acknowledgement (ACK).

System, Method And Computer Program Product For Controlling A Transmit Signal Using An Expected Power Level

View page
US Patent:
62869949, Sep 11, 2001
Filed:
Apr 29, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/069885
Inventors:
Robert W. Boesel - San Diego CA
Levent Aydin - Del Mar CA
Lindsay A. Weaver - Boulder CO
Assignee:
Qualcomm Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04L 2704
US Classification:
374146
Abstract:
A system, method and computer program product that uses an expected output power level to compensate for slowly changing unintentional power fluctuations in a signal transmission system such that the actual transmitted power matches a calculated desired transmit power. Digital expected power data is sampled and filtered to generate an expected output power level. Actual output data is sampled and filtered to generate an actual output power level. A comparator periodically compares the expected output power level to the actual output power level. Preferably, the comparator first removes a correction value from the actual output power level that was added to the transmit signal to correct for unintentional power fluctuations. The resultant ratio or difference is sent to a correction module which generates a correction value therefrom. The correction value is converted to a dB quantity and added to existing correction values.

Techniques For Managing Sounding Reference Signal Resource Switching

View page
US Patent:
20220216966, Jul 7, 2022
Filed:
Dec 27, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/646042
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Levent AYDIN - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 5/00
H04B 7/06
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration, wherein the first SRS configuration indicates a number of antenna ports on which an SRS is to be transmitted. The UE may determine that the number of antenna ports indicated by the first SRS configuration exceeds an antenna capability of the UE. The UE may transmit one or more SRSs using a second SRS configuration based at least in part on determining that the first SRS configuration exceeds the antenna capability of the UE. Numerous other aspects are described.
