Christopher Parks - Ellicott MD, US
International Classification:
B65D025/34
B65D043/14
US Classification:
229/116100, 229/125350
Abstract:
A coupon bearing lid component for a container is prepared from a sheet of paperboard, said paperboard having an outer surface with a finished coating for printing graphics and an inner surface on which coupon indicia is printed, the improvement wherein the inner surface of the lid has bonded thereto a polymeric film to cover the printed coupon indicia.

Method For Forming Packaging Blanks From Plastic Sheet

View page
US Patent:
20080048367, Feb 28, 2008
Filed:
Sep 23, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/663296
Inventors:
Ladislav Falat - Columbia MD, US
Assignee:
MEADWESTVACO CORPORATION - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B29C 53/06
US Classification:
264442000
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for forming a polymeric container blank having flexible fold lines which includes the steps of, among other steps, providing a sheet of polymeric material for use as a substrate for a container blank, providing a creasing tool which includes an applicator having a substantially flat lower surface that is spaced apart from a creasing rule and placing the polymeric material between the applicator and the creasing rule such that a first surface of the polymeric material is in contact with the lower surface of the applicator and a second surface of the material is in contact with the creasing rule. In this embodiment, the inventive method further includes the step of resonating the applicator of the creasing tool at an ultrasonic frequency so as to apply ultrasonic energy to the polymeric material and form at least one flexible fold line therein.

Machine For Sealing Carton

US Patent:
20090044497, Feb 19, 2009
Filed:
Jul 11, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/575547
Inventors:
Ladislav Falat - Columbia MD, US
Rune Haraldsson - Gamer NC, US
Benoit Poutot - Blamat, FR
Jean-Christophe Bonnain - Chateauroux, FR
Pierre-Yves Poget - Chateauroux, FR
Assignee:
MEADWESTVACO PACKAGING SYSTEMS LLC - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B65B 11/52
B65B 51/10
B65B 57/00
US Classification:
53478, 53290, 533292, 53325, 53507, 53141, 53 52, 533891
Abstract:
A packaging apparatus forms a completely sealed composite package. The apparatus employs a continuous process which involves conditioning a surface of the package substrate. The substrate includes an adhesive coating that can be reactivated by infra-red radiation and adheres the package substrate to a juxtaposed face of a second surface. The apparatus uses rollers () to compress the two surfaces together to complete the construction process.

Method For Measuring Atmospheric Corrosion

View page
US Patent:
54118905, May 2, 1995
Filed:
Jun 23, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/264715
Inventors:
Ladislav Falat - College Park MD
Assignee:
Westvaco Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
G01N 1700
US Classification:
436 6
Abstract:
An atmospheric environmental monitoring method utilizes a corrosion test element prepared from a transparent substrate having two opposed surfaces. A corrodable film is applied to one surface of the substrate in the form of a thin wedge of metal and a security coating is applied to the opposite surface of the substrate. The surface of the corrodable film adjacent to the transparent substrate is reflective to radiation when viewed through the substrate. The security layer is designed to reflect radiation in at least the visible region of the spectrum and yet be transparent to radiation in other parts of the spectrum.

Packaging Material Having Good Moisture Barrier Properties From C1S Paperboard

View page
US Patent:
62453955, Jun 12, 2001
Filed:
Dec 17, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/465310

Mohan Sasthav - Elkridge MD
Assignee:
Westvaco Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B05D 306
US Classification:
427557
Abstract:
The preparation of packaging material having good moisture barrier properties from a C1S paperboard substrate in a single pass on a printing press is improved by preheating the substrate before application of the moisture barrier coating to the uncoated surface of the substrate. Preheating the substrate improves coating holdout, reduces pinholes and permits the application of a thin film of coating to achieve the desired result.

Atmospheric Corrosivity Monitor
