Fluid Flow Valve With Variable Flow Rate

View page
US Patent:
6427714, Aug 6, 2002
Filed:
Apr 24, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/841350
Inventors:
Alan R. Freigang - Scotts MI
James A. Beverly - Kalamazoo MI
Kurt R. Gerlofs - Kalamazoo MI
Assignee:
Dana Corporation - Toledo OH
International Classification:
F16K 1520
US Classification:
137225, 137226, 1374939, 1375135, 152415
Abstract:
An improved fluid flow valve ( ) for a fluid flow control system. The flow valve ( ) includes a flow-regulating assembly ( ) having a housing ( ) having a piston bore ( ) within which is slideably disposed a piston-like member ( ). The piston-like member ( ) has a primary flow passage ( ) and at least one secondary flow passage ( ) formed therein. A first portion ( ) of the pistonlike member ( ) is configured for mating with a seat ( ) of the housing ( ), and a resilient member ( ) biases the piston-like member ( ) away from the seat ( ). When at least a predetermined fluid pressure differential exists, the first portion ( ) mates with the seat ( ) and causes the at least one secondary flow passage ( ) to be at least substantially closed such that fluid can substantially flow only through the primary flow passage ( ).

US Patent:
7509885, Mar 31, 2009
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/284668
Inventors:
Kurt Gerlofs - Kalamazoo MI, US
Dave Stevens - Athens MI, US
Mark Hirsch - Vicksburg MI, US
Charles Bradley - Gobles MI, US
Michael J. Huggins - Kalamazoo MI, US
Gerard F. Smith - Kalamazoo MI, US
Michael E. Lemon - Battle Creek MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16H 59/68
US Classification:
74335, 74745
Abstract:
An embodiment provides a shift inhibitor apparatus. At least a portion of the range actuating assembly is moveable between a range first ratio and a range second ratio. The portion of the range actuating assembly is moveable, at least in part, in response to a fluid pressure. The range chamber is selectively in fluid communication with a vent. The shift inhibitor includes a main section neutral interlock having an interlock chamber. At least a portion of the main section neutral interlock is moveable between a first condition and a second condition. The interlock chamber is selectively in fluid communication with the vent. The range chamber can be exhausted such that the range section is selectively switched from the first ratio to the second ratio. The interlock chamber can be exhausted such that the main section neutral interlock is selectively switched from the first condition to the second condition.

US Patent:
8635925, Jan 28, 2014
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/284665
Inventors:
Kurt Gerlofs - Kalamazoo MI, US
Dave Stevens - Athens MI, US
Mark Hirsch - Vicksburg MI, US
Charles Bradley - Gobles MI, US
Michael J. Huggins - Kalamazoo MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16H 59/00
US Classification:
74335, 74331, 74339, 74329
Abstract:
An embodiment provides a shift inhibitor apparatus for a multiple speed transmission main section. The transmission includes an input shaft and an output shaft The transmission main section has a plurality of selectively engageable ratios. The transmission also has a range section shiftable between a range high ratio and a range low ratio. The shift inhibitor includes an interlock moveable between a locked condition and a released condition, wherein the interlock selectively prevents a gear shift in the transmission main section. The shift inhibitor also includes a range sensor valve. The range sensor valve selectively detects a range shift of the range section. The range sensor valve selectively causes the interlock to be positioned in the released condition upon detection of a completed range shift. The interlock is selectively positioned by a fluid.

Fluid Flow Valve With Variable Flow Rate

US Patent:
62503278, Jun 26, 2001
Filed:
Feb 25, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/257439
Inventors:
Alan R. Freigang - Scotts MI
James A. Beverly - Kalamazoo MI
Kurt R. Gerlofs - Kalamazoo MI
Assignee:
Dana Corporation - Toledo OH
International Classification:
F16K 1502
B60C 2300
US Classification:
137225
Abstract:
An improved fluid flow valve (10) for a fluid flow control system. The flow valve (10) includes a flow-regulating assembly (40) having a housing (44) having a piston bore (15) within which is slideably disposed a piston-like member (42). The piston-like member (42) has a primary flow passage (52) and at least one secondary flow passage (54) formed therein. A first portion (42a) of the pistonlike member (42) is configured for mating with a seat (46) of the housing (44), and a resilient member (48) biases the piston-like member (42) away from the seat (46). When at least a predetermined fluid pressure differential exists, the first portion (42a) mates with the seat (46) and causes the at least one secondary flow passage (54) to be at least substantially closed such that fluid can substantially flow only through the primary flow passage (52).

US Patent:
55446884, Aug 13, 1996
Filed:
Dec 23, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/363134
Inventors:
Alan R. Freigang - Scotts MI
Gary R. Schultz - Kalamazoo MI
Thomas L. Runels - Battle Creek MI
Kurt R. Gerlofs - Kalamazoo MI
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
B60C 2300
F16K 31528
US Classification:
152415
Abstract:
A pressure relief valve (61) including a body (110, 114) interconnecting an inflatable volume (20a,22a) with a source of pressurized fluid (30) and the atmosphere. A pair of valve members (120, 122) cooperate to allow controlled inflation and deflation of the volumes (20a,22a) as well as to close off the fluid path between the source and the volumes and vent fluid from the volumes to the atmosphere in order to achieve at least two predetermined fluid pressures in the volume.
