Ink-Jet Recording Medium For Dye- Or Pigment-Based Ink-Jet Inks

View page
US Patent:
7867584, Jan 11, 2011
Filed:
Jun 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/165627
Inventors:
Yubai Bi - San Diego CA, US
Eric Lee Burch - San Diego CA, US
Sandeep Bangaru - San Diego CA, US
Kimberly Zargarian - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B41M 5/00
US Classification:
428 3216, 428 3217, 428 3221, 428 3226, 428 3228, 428 323, 428 3234
Abstract:
The present invention is drawn to a media sheet for ink-jet printing and can comprise a media substrate and a coating composition applied to the media substrate to form an ink-receiving layer. The ink-receiving layer can include semi-metal oxide or metal oxide particulates, at least 5 wt % of a water soluble coating formulation additive, and a binder. The media sheet can also have a wash conductivity less than about 80 microsiemens/cm, said wash conductivity determined by measuring the conductivity of a 50 mL bath of deionized water after placing a 100 cmsample of the media sheet in the deionized water for 45 seconds at room temperature under agitation.

US Patent:
20050266181, Dec 1, 2005
Filed:
Apr 19, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/110106
Inventors:
Yubai Bi - San Diego CA, US
Eric Burch - San Diego CA, US
Sandeep Bangaru - San Diego CA, US
Kimberly Zargarian - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
B41M005/00
US Classification:
428032340
Abstract:
The present invention is drawn to a method of preparing a porous media substrate, comprising combining metal or semi-metal oxide particulates with a polymeric binder, wherein the metal or semi-metal oxide particulates are associated with at least one water soluble coating formulation additive. At least a portion of the water soluble coating formulation additive i) is in the form of unreacted additive, or ii) generates undesired electrolytes. Additional steps include removing at least a portion of the unreacted additive or undesired electrolytes, either before or after combining the metal or semi-metal oxide particulates with the polymeric binder, thereby forming a refined coating composition; and applying the refined coating composition to a media substrate to form an ink-receiving layer having a porous surface.

US Patent:
20180202105, Jul 19, 2018
Filed:
Oct 27, 2015
Appl. No.:
15/743340
Inventors:
- Fort Collins CO, US
Xulong Fu - San Diego CA, US
Kimberly Zargarian - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Fort Collins CO
International Classification:
D21H 19/12
B41M 5/00
Abstract:
The present disclosure is drawn to ink fixative solutions, which can consist essentially of a polyvalent metal salt, a holdout additive, and water. The polyvalent metal salt can be present in an amount from about 1 wt % to about 5 wt %, with respect to the entire weight of the ink fixative solution. The holdout additive can be present in an amount from about 2 wt % to about 20 wt %, with respect to the entire weight of the ink fixative solution. The holdout additive can be polyethylene glycol, glycerol, carboxy methyl cellulose, hydroxy ethyl cellulose, a fatty acid, a fatty acid ethoxylate, or combinations thereof.
