US Patent:
7082844, Aug 1, 2006
Filed:
Feb 16, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/058480
Inventors:
Kim D. Cook - Wakarusa IN, US
Terry R. Bloom - Middlebury IN, US
Assignee:
CTS Corporation - Elkhart IN
International Classification:
G01D 7/00
US Classification:
73862041
Abstract:
A strain sensor that is suited for use as an occupant weight sensor in a vehicle seat is disclosed. The strain sensor includes a substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface. Several bumps are located on the top surface. The bumps extend above the top surface. The bumps are arranged in a pattern. A dielectric material is located on the top surface. At least one strain sensitive resistor is located on the dielectric material. Several conductive traces are formed on the dielectric material and are electrically connected with the strain sensitive resistor.

US Patent:
8450999, May 28, 2013
Filed:
Feb 16, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/706026
Inventors:
Kevin C. Wolschlager - Elkhart IN, US
Robert L. Newman - Edwardsburg MI, US
Kim D. Cook - Wakarusa IN, US
Assignee:
CTS Corporation - Elkhart IN
International Classification:
G01B 7/30
US Classification:
32420725
Abstract:
A sensor assembly for sensing a movable object which, in one embodiment, includes a housing defining an interior cavity. A rotor is retained in the cavity. The rotor defines a central bore and a magnet is mounted in an off-center pocket defined by the rotor. The rotor is coupled to the shaft of the movable object whose position is to be measured. A sensor is also retained in the cavity in a relationship at least partially overlying the magnet and adapted to sense at least the direction of the magnetic field generated by the magnet to generate an electrical signal indicative of the position of the movable object. In another embodiment, the rotor and sensor are mounted in separate interior housing cavities separated by an interior housing wall.

US Patent:
20080218158, Sep 11, 2008
Filed:
Mar 4, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/074396
Inventors:
Joseph D. Carlson - Elkhart IN, US
William Storrie - Wishaw, GB
Russell S. Brayton - Elkhart IN, US
Stephen Stepke - Granger IN, US
Eric Fromer - Elkhart IN, US
Kim Cook - Wakarusa IN, US
International Classification:
G01R 33/07
US Classification:
3242072, 32420725
Abstract:
A rotary position sensor for sensing the position of a movable object. The sensor includes a housing that defines a pair of cavities separated by a wall. A magnet, which is adapted to generate a magnetic field, is positioned within one of the cavities. The magnet is adapted to be coupled to the movable object. A magnetic sensor, which is adapted to generate an electrical signal that is indicative of the position of the movable object, is positioned within the other cavity.
