Abstract:
Techniques are provided for secure synchronization and sharing of secrets. A first principal acquires an encrypted access key to a secret store of a second principal. The first principal contacts an identity manager and supplies a decrypted version of the access key. One or more secrets of the second principal may be acquired or modified by the first principal while accessing the secret store.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus enforce computing policies of an enterprise in a distributed manner so that idiosyncratic services to a computing device can be minimized or altogether eliminated. Pluralities of virtual machines are arranged on one or more computing devices and define, for example, applications specified by a user and shared services approved by the enterprise. A central library stores the virtual machines and each is available for check-out by users. A manager evaluates the virtual machines for satisfactory compliance with the computing policies at a time when the virtual machines are resident in the library. Upon confirmation of satisfactory compliance, the applications and shared services are available for deployment to users. Otherwise, the virtual machines are centrally serviced for compliance and/or tested before redeployment. Libraries, managers, software program products, threat assessment, and policy management are other features, to name a few.

Data queries from principals are intercepted and access rights are assigned in response to identities associated with the principals. The access rights are enforced by modifying the queries and/or filtering results from the queries. A REpresentational State Transfer (REST) front-end interface is interfaced to a legacy file system via a backend interface that directly interacts with the native storage and protocols of the legacy file system. The REST interface is presented as the frontend interface to the legacy file system making the storage of the legacy file system available to web or network-enabled devices.
