View page
US Patent:
20120037183, Feb 16, 2012
Filed:
Aug 10, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/207137
Inventors:
Shay James Foley - Snellville GA, US
Kent M. Grothe - Buford GA, US
Lawrence David Keyes - Spring TX, US
International Classification:
B08B 1/00
US Classification:
134 6, 15 971
Abstract:
Extraneous liquid is absorbently removed from the rim or sealing area of a contact lens package prior to sealing it, so as to promote good adhesion of the foil cover to the rim when the package is sealed. As the package moves through the system, the package rim and an absorbent blotter are moved into contact with one another. The blotter absorbs any extraneous liquid on the rim. A vacuum or other dryer can be included to further remove the absorbed liquid from the blotter.

View page
US Patent:
20090107855, Apr 30, 2009
Filed:
Oct 29, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/290335
Inventors:
Scott J. Gault - Norcross GA, US
Kent M. Grothe - Buford GA, US
International Classification:
A45C 11/04
B65B 3/02
B65B 25/00
B65B 5/10
B65B 7/16
B65B 55/22
US Classification:
206 51, 53431, 53475, 53476, 53239, 53240, 53285
Abstract:
Additives that could interfere with the sealing of a cover onto a contact lens package are delivered separately from the bulk saline delivered into the lens package, thereby allowing more precise control of the additive delivery, reducing the incidence of additive in the seal area of the lens package, and improving the seal integrity.
