Abstract:
A computerized method for gauging the importance of web content and presenting selected content to a user is described. Comments that have been posted by a user to a first comment-enabled entry in a web site are collected. The collected comments of the user are analyzed to gauge sentiment of the user towards the first entry and on that basis it is decided whether or not to include the first entry as part of notable web content. The notable web content is then presented to a user. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract:
A news commenting server includes a filtering unit for allowing only trusted or curated users/authors to post comments in a particular portion of a web page of a news website. The news commenting server may also include a comment receiver for receiving comments and associating the comments with a selected one (and not all) of several sub-events that describe a main event. A formatting unit may present the user comments and the associated sub-event in on the same frame, in the web page of the news website. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract:
A computerized method for gauging the importance of web content and presenting selected content to a user. A web site that has a plurality of comment-enabled entries is monitored, by tracking the number of comments that are posted to the entries by visitors to the web site. An average number of comments per entry is calculated. The web site is monitored over time so as to calculate a moving average, the moving average being the latest average number of comments per entry. The number of comments posted to each of the entries is compared with the moving average, to determine an importance score for each of the entries. A list of some of the entries ranked in accordance with their determined importance scores is displayed to a web user. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
