View page
US Patent:
6416278, Jul 9, 2002
Filed:
Nov 16, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/713936
Inventors:
James Michael Caldwell - Alexandria KY
Kenneth Morand Lieland - Cincinnati OH
Glenn Herbert Nichols - Mason OH
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
F01D 900
US Classification:
415191, 4152094, 4152101, 298891, 294023, 294029
Abstract:
A method for repairing a turbine nozzle segment having at least one vane disposed between outer and inner bands includes separating the inner band from the nozzle segment, and joining the inner band to a newly manufactured replacement casting having an outer band and at least one vane. The replacement casting includes a mounting platform formed on one end of the vane and a boss formed on the mounting platform. A collar is joined to the inner band and has a slot formed therein. The boss is then inserted into the slot, and the mounting platform is received in a recess formed in the inner band. Joining is completed by joining the boss to the collar and the mounting platform to the inner band.

US Patent:
6439837, Aug 27, 2002
Filed:
Jun 27, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/604127
Inventors:
John Peter Heyward - Loveland OH
Robert Ingram Ackerman - West Chester OH
Richard Hartley Pugh - Maineville OH
Steven Curtiss Warfield - Mason OH
Kenneth Morand Lieland - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
F04D 2938
US Classification:
415115, 416 97 R
Abstract:
A nozzle vane includes a row of trailing edge apertures and cooperating inboard slots joined in flow communication with a mid-chord cavity. An outboard slot is spaced outwardly from a respective last one of the inboard slots, and outboard of a respective last one of the trailing edge apertures. The outboard slot extends behind a braze joint between the vane and a supporting band and is effective for backside cooling thereof.

US Patent:
62243373, May 1, 2001
Filed:
Sep 17, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/399195
Inventors:
Kenneth M. Lieland - Cincinnati OH
Robert W. Harris - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
F01D 518
US Classification:
416 97R
Abstract:
A turbine blade squealer tip includes an airfoil shaped tip cap having a squealer tip wall extending radially outwardly from and around the perimeter of the airfoil shaped tip cap to define a radially outwardly open tip cavity. The tip wall has an inboard side facing the interior of the cavity and an outboard side facing away from the cavity and the tip cap has an outer tip side on a bottom of the cavity. Thermal barrier coatings are disposed on the inboard and outboard sides of the squealer tip wall and on the outer tip side of the tip cap. One embodiment provides the tip cap with cooling holes disposed therethrough to flow cooling air into the cavity.
