View page
US Patent:
20080140028, Jun 12, 2008
Filed:
Dec 8, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/635841
Inventors:
Mary Schwebel - Minneapolis MN, US
Kays Chinai - Burlington NJ, US
International Classification:
A61M 35/00
B65D 69/00
B29C 51/00
B29C 71/04
US Classification:
604300, 206570, 264321, 264232, 264488, 264294
Abstract:
A mask to improve the comfort and eye health of individuals suffering from dry eye syndrome including a substantially vapor impermeable shell with a unitary structure having a substantially planar portion and two eye recesses. Each eye recess forms a generally concave dome shaped region on one side of the substantially planar portion. The shell is adapted to be worn on the face of the dry eye subject. An absorbent material can be positioned in at least one of the eye recesses; so that the absorbent material extends less than the maximum depth of the eye recesses to present the absorbent material to the face in the vicinity of the eyes of the dry eye subject without extending beyond the edge of the substantially planar portion. The invention may also include securing member to secure the shell to the subjects head.

Disposable Sleep Mask For Treating Dry Eye Syndrome

US Patent:
20100106111, Apr 29, 2010
Filed:
Oct 28, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/259883
Inventors:
Mary Schwebel - Minneapolis MN, US
Kays Chinai - Burlington NJ, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/04
B32B 38/00
US Classification:
604294, 156245
Abstract:
A mask for the relief of dry eye in a dry eye subject, including a unitary shell shaped to cover at least one eye and a portion of a face. The shell includes a first layer and a second layer the first layer that is substantially moisture impermeable and the second layer that is moisture absorbent. The first layer and the second layer meeting at a layer interface. The first layer and the second layer are substantially coextensive over substantially the entire layer interface and are secured together over substantially the entire layer interface.

Method Of Forming A Unitized Absorbent Product With A Density Gradient

View page
US Patent:
59165073, Jun 29, 1999
Filed:
Nov 7, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/335220
Inventors:
Shmuel Dabi - Highland Park NJ
Kays Chinai - Burlington NJ
Assignee:
McNeil-PPc, Inc. - Skillman NJ
International Classification:
B32B 3120
D04H 142
D04H 144
D04H 154
US Classification:
264113
Abstract:
A method of constructing multi-layer products for absorbing fluids is disclosed. In the methods of the present invention, two or more layers of materials chosen to vary in recovery are compressed such that an absorption gradient forms through the continuous intimately associated layers. A first layer preferably remains densified while a second layer "blooms" to form an open, absorptive layer, which acts as a reservoir, drawing absorbed fluids into the densified layer, where they are retained.

Clean Dry Facing Needled Composite

View page
US Patent:
54703263, Nov 28, 1995
Filed:
Apr 12, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/226438
Inventors:
Shmuel Dabi - Highland Park NJ
Kays Chinai - Burlington NJ
Assignee:
McNeil-PPC, Inc. - Milltown NJ
International Classification:
A61F 1315
A61F 1320
US Classification:
604383
Abstract:
Novel facing materials and methods for their manufacture are provided by this invention. The facing material includes at least a fibrous top layer for engaging body fluid and a generally opaque middle layer. A portion of the facing material is disposed, preferably by piercing, through the generally opaque middle layer to establish a fluid path through the generally opaque middle layer. In the preferred embodiment, the facing material includes a bottom layer having a capillary structure for drawing the body fluid from the fibrous top layer. In this preferred embodiment, the fibrous top layer extends through the generally opaque middle layer to provide fluid communication between the fibrous top layer and the bottom layer. These composite structures provide a clean/dry facing material that has a comfort of a textile facing and the high opacity of apertured thermoplastic films.

Foam-Fiber Composite And Process

View page
US Patent:
47584661, Jul 19, 1988
Filed:
May 5, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/046077
Inventors:
Shmuel Dabi - Highland Park NJ
Kays B. Chinai - Burlington NJ
Assignee:
Personal Products Company - Milltown NJ
International Classification:
D04H 104
D04H 158
US Classification:
428283
Abstract:
A foam-fiber composite, useful as an absorbent for sanitary napkins is disclosed. It is a resilient, absorbent structure made from large particles of an amino-ether hydrophilic foam (and optionally a superabsorbent and wood pulp), which by use of a carding machine is uniformly distributed in, and heat bonded to a fibrous matrix, which matrix is preferably made from two different kinds of fibers, one of which is low melting at the bonding temperatures used in the oven, e. g. , polyethylene and the other high melting, e. g. , polyester.

Adhesively Attached Absorbent Liners

View page
US Patent:
40235700, May 17, 1977
Filed:
Apr 21, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/678796
Inventors:
Kays Chinai - Burlington NJ
James A. Ginocchio - Summit NJ
Assignee:
Personal Products Company - Milltown NJ
International Classification:
A61F 1316
US Classification:
128290R
Abstract:
A protective absorbent liner for nether garments is provided comprising an elongated absorbent body having the body contacting major surface and a garment contacting major surface. Pressure sensitive adhesive element means are disposed longitudinally and centrally upon the garment contacting surface and extend from end to end thereof. The removable release strip overlies the entire length of the pressure sensitive adhesive element. At least one extreme end portion of the pressure sensitive adhesive element is provided with a pattern of raised and depressed areas whereby the resistance to peeling of both the release strip prior to use and the nether garment after use is lower in the end portion than in the central portion of the adhesive element.

US Patent:
39760758, Aug 24, 1976
Filed:
Feb 24, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/552391
Inventors:
Kays Chinai - Burlington Township NJ
Alfred Amend - Kendall Park NJ

Personal Products Company - Milltown NJ
International Classification:
A61F 1320
B32B 3114
US Classification:
128285
Abstract:
Means are provided in an absorbent product, such as a catamenial tampon, for greatly reducing the tendency for fibrous particles to break loose from the body of the product during use, this condition being referred to as "sloughing". The means comprise a pad of absorbent material having printed on at least one surface thereof a non-occlusive pattern of adhesive binder. The pad, when used for a catamenial tampon, is turned upon itself into a generally cylindrical shape which may be compressed into the final tampon.
