Gustavo Zavala-Garcia, 24, is the primary suspect in the case of Kayla Gomez-Orozco. Garcia was booked Saturday night on an Immigration Detainer according to Smith County Jail records. Sheriff Smith said they have no other suspects at this time.
During a press conference in regards to the case of Kayla Gomez-Orozco, Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith informed they located the body, believed to be Kayla, in a well near a property located on the 22000 block of FM 2493 in Smith County.
According to Sheriff Smith, investigators developed a lead of a home on FM 2493. Authorities sought and obtained a search warrant from the 241stState District Judge Jack Skeen for further investigation of the residence, where the body believed to be of Kayla Gomez-Orozco was found in a water well.
