Virtual Scanning From A Scanned Image Preview

View page
US Patent:
20030043399, Mar 6, 2003
Filed:
Aug 31, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/944691
Inventors:
Kairi Johnston - Star ID, US
Virgil Russon - Greeley CO, US
International Classification:
G06K015/02
H04N001/387
G06T003/40
H04N001/04
US Classification:
358/001130, 358/001200, 358/453000, 382/282000, 382/300000, 358/474000
Abstract:
An imaging system scanning device preview-scans an image and generates image data that is used to generate a scanned image preview. The scanned image preview is displayed in a viewing region of a user interface and represents the image in an electronic form. An image region of the scanned image preview can be defined and selected, and a final-scan of the image region emulated with a software or firmware component that generates a final scanned image. An emulated final-scan of the image region includes interpolating the image data corresponding to the image region to improve the resolution of the image region when generating the final scanned image. The final scanned image can be communicated to a destination location such as a data storage component, or to an image reproduction device.

System And Method For Scanning To A Host Computer

View page
US Patent:
20030043423, Mar 6, 2003
Filed:
Aug 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/943622
Inventors:
Kairi Johnston - Star ID, US
Honee Mesa - Meridian ID, US
International Classification:
H04N001/46
US Classification:
358/505000
Abstract:
A scanning device for scanning to a host computer includes memory for storing a list of host IDs and corresponding host addresses, an image sensing module for scanning an image or document, and a display panel for displaying at least one host ID that is selectable via user input. The scanning device receives registration data from a host computer, displays a list of one or more registered host computers, receives user input identifying a host computer, scans a document or image to generate scan data, and transmits the scan data to the host computer identified by the user input.

Destination Direction For Push Scanning To At Least One Of Multiple Destinations

View page
US Patent:
20030048303, Mar 13, 2003
Filed:
Aug 31, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/944659
Inventors:
Christopher Mesa - Meridian ID, US
Jennifer Melin - Boise ID, US
Kairi Johnston - Star ID, US
Doug Kaltenecker - Meridian ID, US
Honee Mesa - Meridian ID, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/771000
Abstract:
An implementation of a technology is described herein for facilitating the direction of push scanning from an input peripheral to one or more destinations of multiple of such possible destinations. With this technology, a user of a scanner quickly and easily performs a “push scan” to a primary target computer of one of multiple targets connected to the scanner (directly or via a network). The user selects a primary target (e.g., a computer) of one of multiple targets connected thereto (directly or via a network) and a secondary target (e.g., a file, an application, an email, a fax, etc.) associated with that primary target. Once selected, the user scans a document at the scanner. The scanner notifies the primary target of the scan request and that it is the intended destination. The primary target initiates and controls the scan. When it receives the scanned data, it directs it to the secondary target. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. The scope of the present invention is pointed out in the appending claims.

Variable Resolution Scanning

View page
US Patent:
20030048487, Mar 13, 2003
Filed:
Aug 31, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/944687
Inventors:
Kairi Johnston - Star ID, US
Doug Kaltenecker - Meridian ID, US
International Classification:
B41B001/00
G06F015/00
H04N001/04
US Classification:
358/474000, 358/001200
Abstract:
An imaging system includes a destination selection control to select a destination for scan data generated from an image. A software or firmware component determines a scan resolution for the scan data corresponding to a data type associated with the selected destination, and an imaging device, such as an automatic document feed scanning device, or an imaging unit in an imaging device, generates the scan data with the scan resolution. The imaging system can also include a resolution selection control to select a destination resolution. The software or firmware component determines a scan resolution that is different than the destination resolution, and generates the scan data with the different scan resolution.

Systems And Methods For Managing Remote Transmission Receive Destinations For A Multi-Connected Fax Or Scanning Device

View page
US Patent:
20050128526, Jun 16, 2005
Filed:
Dec 12, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/734981
Inventors:
Doug Kaltenecker - Meridian ID, US
Kairi Johnston - Star ID, US
Richard Burgin - Meridian ID, US
Larry Copp - Boise ID, US
Kram Allen - Meridian ID, US
Honee Mesa - Eagle ID, US
Jeffrey Aguilera - Nampa ID, US
International Classification:
H04N001/00
US Classification:
358400000, 358474000
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described herein for managing remote transmission destinations for a fax/scan device connected—directly or indirectly—to a network. When a fax/scan device is set to a “Receive Fax to PC” or “Scan-To PC” mode, a master host identifier that uniquely identifies a master host on the network is stored at the master host and at the fax/scan device. If another network computer attempts to supercede an existing master host for the fax/scan device, it is prevented from doing so because of the presence of the master host identifier in the fax/scan device. When the “Receive Fax to PC” or “Scan-To PC” mode is cleared, the master host identifier is also cleared. Only then may a network computer configure itself as a master host for the fax/scan device.
