Abstract:
A method for operating an engine and an integrated starter/generator/motor (ISGM) disposed in a hybrid electric vehicle, which includes launch and deceleration processes. The ISGM is used to both launch the vehicle and start the engine. The deceleration process includes operating a first clutch to disengage the engine from the ISGM during an initial phase, and engaging a second clutch during the initial phase to direct substantially all regenerative energy to provide the only source of electrical energy to recharge the energy storage device.

An apparatus for selectively connecting and disconnecting a high voltage source includes a mechanical actuator including a plurality of stations. Each station includes connection elements that are electrically connectable to one or more corresponding high voltage modules which are part of a plurality of high voltage modules. The plurality of high voltage modules are electrically connectable to each other. The mechanical actuator has a connected position and a disconnected position for simultaneously electrically connecting each of the plurality of high voltage modules to each other, and for simultaneously electrically disconnecting each of the plurality of high voltage modules from each other.

Abstract:
A system, computer readable storage device and method for controlling torque in a hybrid electric vehicle. The method comprises determining a state of charge of an energy storage device, obtaining a reference state of charge, obtaining an error from a difference between the determined state of charge and the reference state of charge; and apportioning torque between a motor and an engine based upon the error. The motor is electrically coupled to the energy storage device and powered by the energy storage device. A state of charge (SOC) correction factor is determined based upon the error. The SOC correction factor is used to adjust a torque ratio of motor to engine torque that is determined for a given torque command.

A power system for connecting high voltage components includes an enclosure having an interior space. A plurality of high voltage (HV) components are removably coupled to the enclosure and positioned in the interior space of the enclosure. The plurality of HV components are electrically coupled to each other. A hybrid electric drive system for a hybrid powered vehicle which includes a combustion engine, and a transmission. An electric machine and the combustion engine are coupled to the transmission in the hybrid electric drive system providing engine and/or electric machine drive power for the vehicle. A clutch is mechanically communicating with and positioned between the combustion engine and the transmission to decouple the combustion engine from the transmission. An energy storage system is configured to transfer and receive power with the electric machine, and is configured to recharge using power from the electric machine. A hybrid system controller is configured to respond to a regenerative braking mode of the vehicle. While the hybrid electric drive system is in the regenerative braking mode, the hybrid system controller is configured to initiate shifting of the transmission into one or more selected gears relating to one or more selected electric machine speeds.
