Disclosed is a combination night light and eyeglass support having a detachable light source. The device comprises a lighted eyeglass perch supported by a base and an upstanding body portion. Within the upstanding body portion is a hollow region to accept an upright and removable flashlight, which is independently operable from the base and receives battery charging power therethrough. Above the eyeglass perch is a night light that allows the location of the device to be readily recognized in low light situations. Along the base is a lighting control, which operates the night light and the flashlight when attached to the base, providing a light assembly and convenient perch for eyeglass locating in low light.

An additional layer of encoding is provided using conventional one-dimensional (“1-D”) bar code symbology. Dark bars of at least 2 heights are used (where the dark bars may be narrow or wide, and may be separated by a space that is narrow or wide) for 2-dimensional (“2-D”) encoding. Whereas the width of the dark bars is significant in the 1-D encoding, the height of the dark bars is significant for the 2-D encoding. In one approach, dark bars of a shortest height are used for encoding conventional 1-D data, while dark bars of other heights encode additional data in a 2-D portion of a bar code. In another approach, consecutive dark bars are used in combination, according to a mapping which correlates the various combinations of bar heights to respective characters. The 2-D encoding rules may be proprietary, providing a type of data privacy.

A portable heating device stores and warms food items positioned therein. The device includes a housing. The housing includes a main body having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall attached to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall. A top edge of the perimeter wall defines an access opening into an interior of the main body. At least one dividing wall extends through the interior of the main body defining a plurality of chambers each receiving food items therein. A lid is positionable to close the access opening and cover each of the chambers. A heating element is mounted within the housing and is positioned below each of the chambers for heating the food items positioned in each of the chambers. A power source is coupled to the housing and electrically coupled to the heating element for providing power to heat the heating element.
