Jossef Zilberman - Randallstown MD
Robert E. Munyon - Pasadena MD
William R. Meier - Catonsville MD
Assignee:
Kop Flex, Inc. - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
F16D 374
US Classification:
464 91, 464153
Abstract:
A coupling between a drive and a driven shaft includes a rigid tube to which are attached in axially spaced apart relation at least two flexible rings of elastomeric material; the outer periphery of each ring is attached to a flange of a connecting hub with each hub mounted or connected to one the shafts; in one form the tube is split axially and is adjustably attachable to the periphery of the rings.

Plate Adapter For Flexible Half Couplings

View page
US Patent:
6685570, Feb 3, 2004
Filed:
Jan 22, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/054769
Inventors:
Jossef Zilberman - Columbia MD
Joseph P. Corcoran - Baltimore MD
Robert E. Munyon - Pasadena MD
Assignee:
Kop-Flex - Hanover MD
International Classification:
F16D 1033
US Classification:
464 94, 403 11, 403336, 464 99
Abstract:
An improved plate adapter for use with flexible couplings is disclosed which incorporates radially outwardly disposed pilot flanges for engagement with the hub and sleeve of the half coupling which pilot flanges are designed to form a pressfit relationship with the mating surfaces of the hub and sleeve. A suitable bolting arrangement is provided to aid in fitting of the adapter plate to the half coupling as well as to assist in removal of same. Additionally, the fastener arrangement enables fine adjustment of the radial runout of the sleeve of the half coupling relative to the axis of rotation of the shaft to which the half coupling is secured.

Method Of Constructing A Composite Flexible Coupling Element

View page
US Patent:
51638762, Nov 17, 1992
Filed:
Jul 30, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/559930
Inventors:
Jossef Zilberman - Randallstown MD
Daniel W. Burgess - Sykesville MD
Richard A. Kuchera - Finksburg MD
Robert E. Munyon - Columbia MD
Assignee:
Kop-Flex, Inc. - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
F16D 362
US Classification:
464 69
Abstract:
A flexible coupling element used in a flexible coupling for interfacing a drive shaft and a driven shaft and for transmitting torque therebetween while accommodating angular misalignment; the flexible coupling may be offset-link type or single disc type, both types incorporating a composite fiber wound around drive-bushings and driven-bushings in a winding pattern; the flexible coupling element being formed by compression and heat cured so that the runs connecting each bushing taper to a point midway between adjacent bushings.

Torque Meter

US Patent:
54507618, Sep 19, 1995
Filed:
Jul 1, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/269588
Inventors:
Jossef Zilberman - Columbia MD
Robert E. Munyon - Columbia MD
Steve D'Ercole - Glen Burnie MD
Assignee:
KOP-FLEX, Inc. - Harmans MD
International Classification:
G01L 302
US Classification:
73862329
Abstract:
A torque measuring device utilizing composite and ferromagnetic materials includes an elongated shaft which is fixed at one end to a hollow or solid shaft with the other end being free of attachment to the shaft and including a plurality of circumferentially and evenly disposed signalling generator projections which are interleaved with similarly shaped projections mounted on a second member attached to the shaft so as to position the signal generating fingers in interspaced relationship about the circumference of the shaft body; at least two detecting sensors are located adjacent the projecting interspaced fingers in the same plane and spaced 180. degree. apart from each other to minimize or eliminate any inaccuracies in measuring the torque reflected in non-arcuate variations in the spacing between the fingers of one member relative to the other member.

Coupling Member For Rotatable Shafts

View page
US Patent:
50007220, Mar 19, 1991
Filed:
Mar 26, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/499591
Inventors:
Jossef Zilberman - Randallstown MD
Assignee:
Kop-Flex, Inc. - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
F16D 378
US Classification:
464 79
Abstract:
A coupling member comprises peripheral flanges and a body, with the peripheral flanges having the same axis of rotation. The body of the coupling member has a smoothly curving hub portion extending to two axially separated disk portions and is defined by three relationships. A thickness relationship describes the thickness of the body throughout the hub and disk portions. A spacing relationship describes how much of the body is to be occupied by the hub portion. A continuity relationship describes the thickness of the body within the hub portion.
