Method And Apparatus For Data Entry Input

View page
US Patent:
20060190836, Aug 24, 2006
Filed:
Feb 23, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/361858
Inventors:
Wei Ling Su - Hoffman Estates IL, US
Dong Li - Hoffman Estates IL, US
Joseph Zlotnicki - Downers Grove IL, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/00
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
715773000
Abstract:
An apparatus and method of inputting data for an electronic data entry device are provided. In one embodiment, main keys on a keyboard of a device are used in which the main keys have multiple symbols or functions associated therewith, and one or more assisting keys of the device are used to select between the symbols or functions on the main keys. In a further embodiment, identification of an input object such as the particular fingers of a user that are used to actuate a key region is performed. The symbol associated with the actuated key region and the finger (or other input object) used is determined. Various types of sensors and recognition technology are implemented in order to identify fingers (or other input objects) in various embodiments.

Method And Apparatus For Efficient Data Input

US Patent:
20070252818, Nov 1, 2007
Filed:
Apr 26, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/789853
Inventors:
Joseph Zlotnicki - Downers Grove IL, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
G06F 3/02
US Classification:
345169
Abstract:
Visual and/or audible cues are used to assist users with data input on keyboards having keys associated with multiple input symbols or functions. Each input symbol or function has a correspondence to an input object, such as a finger. During key actuation, one or more input objects are detected. Candidate input symbols or functions are determined based on identification of the key being actuated. The candidate input symbols or functions are presented to the user in the form of cues having visual and/or audible features. The detected input objects may be optionally identified and presented to the user in the form of cues having visual and/or audible features as well.

Catalytic Smog Reduction

US Patent:
20130291931, Nov 7, 2013
Filed:
Jul 1, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/932802
Inventors:
Gerald Peter Jackson - Lisle IL, US
Jason Ryan Babcock - St. Charles IL, US
Joseph Matthew Zlotnicki - Downers Grove IL, US
Assignee:
Green Light Industries, Inc. - West Chicago IL
International Classification:
H01L 31/04
US Classification:
136253
Abstract:
Illustratively, an electrical generator includes a photovoltaic element which converts light produced by a surface into electrical power, the surface located in thermal communication with exhaust gases produced by an exothermic chemical reaction; a heat exchanger which takes at least a majority of thermal energy in the exhaust gases, after the thermal communication, and transfers the thermal energy to air input to the reaction; a catalytic converter, inside the heat exchanger, located to ensure that at least most of the exhaust gases are communicated into the catalytic converter and that heat generated by operation of the catalytic converter is transferred to the air input to the reaction; a sensor in the heat exchanger, located to monitor the reaction before the exhaust gases are communicated into the catalytic converter; a sensor located to sense after the exhaust gases are communicated into the catalytic converter, whether the catalytic converter is functioning properly.

Multiple Power Source Unit

US Patent:
20140058576, Feb 27, 2014
Filed:
Aug 27, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/595062
Inventors:
Gerald Peter Jackson - Lisle IL, US
Thomas J. Phillips - Chapel Hill NC, US
Joseph Matthew Zlotnicki - Downers Grove IL, US
Assignee:
Green Light Industries, Inc. - West Chicago IL
International Classification:
G06F 1/26
H02J 4/00
US Classification:
700297, 307 20
Abstract:
A power unit including multiple generators supplies power to a load or loads that may be variable. The generators can differ, e.g., in generating capacities, rates at which their outputs can be changed, maintenance requirements, and/or different energy-conversion efficiencies. A control unit throttles the generators independently according to a digitally implemented algorithm that may, but need not, use the difference(s) in supplying power to the load. In some cases, the controller regulates monitored power delivered to the load or loads. A power combiner is connected to the outputs of the generators. If desired, a buffer can be used between the generators and the load or loads to provide energy storage that can allow for the load or loads to change at a faster rate than the generators are throttled and for peak loads that temporarily exceed the capacity of the generators.

Radiographic Source

US Patent:
48274933, May 2, 1989
Filed:
Oct 5, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/104687
Inventors:
George W. Parsons - North Reading MA
Robert L. Kelly - Hudson NH
Joseph M. Zlotnicki - Methuen MA
Assignee:
Amersham Corporation - Burlington MA
International Classification:
G21G 400
US Classification:
378119
Abstract:
A radiography source, preferably a cobalt-60 source constructed of a plurality of radioactive cobalt-60 pellets contained in an open capsule preferably constructed of titanium. The pellets are disposed in the capsule and compacted therein to reduce the source focal size. A plug is disposed in the open capsule and welded therewith. The cobalt and titanium materials are sufficiently different in atomic number to permit good X-ray analysis resolution.
