Abstract:
An electrode assembly and construction method therefor for use in small high performance batteries suitable for implantable medical device applications. The electrode assembly comprises a stack of precisely aligned planar elements including alternately arranged positive and negative planar electrodes having a planar separator interposed between adjacent electrodes. Each electrode is preferably formed of a thin metal substrate carrying active material on front and rear faces. The peripheral edge of each electrode defines an active area and a tab extending therefrom. The front and rear faces of the active area each carries a layer of active material. The faces of the tab area are preferably bare. The positive electrode tabs are located at a first position along the peripheral edge whereas the negative tabs are located at a second position spaced from said first position. Each tab carries a clip to form a reinforcing strip adjacent each tab face.

Brachytherapy Device Having An Alignment And Seal Adaptor

View page
US Patent:
8257241, Sep 4, 2012
Filed:
Sep 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/557040
Inventors:
L. Michael Cutrer - Huntington Beach CA, US
Leigh Spotten - Chatsworth CA, US
Joseph Wong - South Pasadena CA, US
Fredrick Winch - Snohomish WA, US
Assignee:
Portola Medical, Inc. - Portola Valley CA
International Classification:
A61M 36/12
US Classification:
600 7
Abstract:
A brachytherapy device for treating tissue within a cavity of a body. The device may include a first set of tubes configured to be inserted into the cavity through an opening at the surface of the body. Each of the tubes may have an external end and an interior channel beginning at the external end that is configured to receive radioactive material. The external ends of the tubes may be bundled together. The tubes may be of a length that causes the external ends to be near the opening in the surface of the body while the tubes are in the cavity. A seal may be configured to prevent fluid that originates from the cavity from entering into the external ends of the tubes while they are near the opening in the surface of the body. The seal may include a gasket that is pressed against the external ends of the tubes. The gasket may have openings that align with channels within the external ends of the tubes.

Curing Light Having A Detachable Tip

View page
US Patent:
20060044823, Mar 2, 2006
Filed:
Jun 30, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/173631
Inventors:
Joseph Wong - South Pasadena CA, US
Robert Hayman - Los Angeles CA, US
Kenneth Rosenblood - Los Angeles CA, US
Christopher Quan - Quincy MA, US
Assignee:
Discus Dental Impressions, Inc. - Culver City CA
International Classification:
F21V 5/00
US Classification:
362573000
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a curing light having a detachable tip for spot curing of light sensitive composites. A series of tips having varying apertures is also envisioned. The present invention also relates to a curing light having a detachable tip for effecting partial curing of light sensitive composites. The advantage of the tip of the present invention, as compared to prior art tips, is that it is adapted to be fitted over the end of a curing light device without the need to remove any protective cover, focusing lens or similar structure that may be mislaid or lost. It also offers the added advantage of a simplified design without the necessity of having built-in complex optical properties normally served by the protective cover while, at the same time, the tip retains the advantages offered by prior art tips.

High Uniformity Microstrip To Modified-Square-Ax Interconnect

View page
US Patent:
61007749, Aug 8, 2000
Filed:
Jul 31, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/126869
Inventors:
Gerald A. Cox - Playa Del Rey CA
Brian T. McWhirter - Redondo Beach CA
Joseph S. Wong - Upland CA
Robert G. Yaccarino - Redondo Beach CA
Steve E. Bradshaw - West Hills CA
Peter J. Holbrook - Westchester CA
Assignee:
Raytheon Company - Lexington MA
International Classification:
H01P 508
US Classification:
333 33
Abstract:
A very low reflection transition with tightly controlled variability between a rectangular coaxial transmission line and a microstrip transmission line. The microstrip ground plane is extended under the transition region to form the transition ground plane. The upper portion of the dielectric of the rectangular coaxial transmission line is removed at the transition region, together with the upper portion of the center conductor. The spacing between the transition center conductor and the ground plane is reduced in relation to the spacing between the rectangular coaxial line center conductor and outer conductive shield. A tuning cavity is formed in the transition ground plane beneath the transition center conductor.
