Electronics Cabinet Security Cover

View page
US Patent:
47296143, Mar 8, 1988
Filed:
Sep 2, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/902486
Inventors:
Richard Nadler - Brighton MA
Joseph F. Sadlow - North Reading MA
Assignee:
Secure Technologies, Inc. - Dedham MA
International Classification:
A47B 8100
US Classification:
312292
Abstract:
A cover for a cabinet of the kind having an exposed portion to which access is to be controlled in which the cover has a panel to be attached to the cabinet; the panel has an opening corresponding to the exposed portion; a movable door is arranged to obstruct access to the exposed portion when the door is in a first location, and to permit access to the portion through the opening when the door is in a second location; and a locking mechanism is provided both for locking the panel to the cabinet and for locking the door in the first location. In another aspect, there are a plurality of doors arranged to obstruct access to the exposed portions; the cover has a first state in which a locking mechanism locks only one door in a first location and another state in which the locking mechanism locks at least another door. In another aspect, the doors, when not obstructing access via openings in the panel, lie in parallel planes adjacent to the panel in an area spaced away from the opening.

Modular Panel Construction For Programmable Controller

View page
US Patent:
42153867, Jul 29, 1980
Filed:
Mar 3, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/883277
Inventors:
Jay M. Prager - Hudson NH
Joseph F. Sadlow - North Reading MA
John E. Farrand - Nashua NH
Thomas A. Boissevain - Bedford MA
Roman Y. Gonzales - Andover MA
Assignee:
Modicon Division, Gould Inc. - Andover MA
International Classification:
H05K 500
US Classification:
361394
Abstract:
By providing a plurality of input/output housings which are removably connected to a controller interconnecting duct, with each input/output housing accommodating a plurality of input/output modules that are quickly and easily removably connected thereto, an input/output assembly for a programmable controller is achieved capable of rapid field assembly and field dis-assembly for removal or replacement of any necessary parts. In the preferred embodiment, all connectors in the programmable controller assembly are solderless connections, thereby allowing complete removal and replacement of connectors in the field without soldering. Furthermore, the input/output modules are lightweight and easily handled for quick insertion or removal from the plugged-in housing connections.

Solid State Device Mounting And Heat Dissipating Assembly

View page
US Patent:
42888395, Sep 8, 1981
Filed:
Oct 18, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/085969
Inventors:
Jay M. Prager - Nashua NH
Joseph F. Sadlow - North Reading MA
John K. Nitzsche - Concord MA
Assignee:
Gould Inc. - Rolling Meadows IL
International Classification:
H05K 720
US Classification:
361386
Abstract:
By providing a retaining surface, upon which a solid state device is positioned, and a device securing means movable into and out of compression engagement with a portion of the solid state device, for securely mounting and retaining the device in sandwiched interengagement between the securing means and the retaining surface, a unique solid state device mounting assembly is achieved which eliminates fastening means extending through the solid state device for secure mounting thereof. In addition, the assembly incorporates heat dissipating means cooperatingly associated with the retaining surface for absorbing and dissipating heat generated by the solid state device. In the preferred embodiment, an elongated unitary one-piece bracket member is employed for securely mounting a plurality of solid state devices in the single bracket member, with the bracket member being mountable to a heat dissipating surface.

Universal Input/Output System Construction For Programmable Controllers

US Patent:
42478820, Jan 27, 1981
Filed:
Apr 17, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/030849
Inventors:
Jay M. Prager - Nashua NH
Joseph F. Sadlow - North Reading MA
John K. Nitzsche - Concord MA
Thomas A. Nikonchuk - Tewskbury MA
John E. Farrand - Nashua NH
Roman Gonzales - Andover MA
Hiroshi Matsumoto - Jruma, JP
Assignee:
Gould Inc. - Rolling Meadows IL
International Classification:
H05K 702
US Classification:
361380
Abstract:
By providing an input/output housing which incorporates paired slider assemblies for supportingly maintaining a printed circuit board in secure electronic engagement between a central processor and external devices, with said printed circuit board being quickly and easily removable from the electronically engaged position, an input/output system for a programmable controller is achieved which is capable of being quickly and easily expanded as well as capable of rapid field assembly and field disassembly for removal or replacement of any required parts. In addition, the external equipment wiring is made to a terminal block which is mounted between the paired slider assemblies and pivotally engaged therein to provide readily accessible contact points for initial interconnection thereto, while also being pivotally movable and slidingly advanceable into the housing for continuous maintenance therein in a secure, hidden, easily accessible storage zone. In the preferred embodiment, all connectors in the input/output system are solderless connections to assure rapid assembly and disassembly capabilities.
