Dental Attachment Structure

View page
US Patent:
51202220, Jun 9, 1992
Filed:
Sep 7, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/578396
Inventors:
Josef M. Sulc - Wilton CT
International Classification:
A61C 13225
US Classification:
433181
Abstract:
The present invention is a dental structure for removably mounting a dental appliance, including a partial denture, bridge, or similar dental appliance in an oral cavity. The dental structure includes an improved male member comprising a substantially cup-shaped body, including a base, a cylindrical wall extending form the base, a projection extending from the base in the same direction as the wall, and a relatively large rectangular stop member that provides a positive contact with an upright wall of a female member. This new and improved feature provides an additional stabilizing contact surface and also serves as a stop surface to prevent the male member from pivoting toward the upright wall of the female member when the male member is fully seated on the female member.

US Patent:
45403678, Sep 10, 1985
Filed:
May 2, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/606218
Inventors:
Josef M. Sulc - Wilton CT
International Classification:
A61C 1322
US Classification:
433181
Abstract:
A dental attachment structure for a dental appliance, such as a partial denture, an overdenture or bridgework, including female member adapted to be permanently attached to a natural tooth, and a male member having a body of a resilient non-metallic material which supports the appliance. The male and female members are provided with interengaging elements for snap retention of structure. A retention plate secures the female member to a crown or inlay of an abutment tooth. The plate is contoured to provide more securement and a base supporting a socket is angled from the plate toward the edentulous ridge. Securement of members is at a location closer to the center of rotation of the abutment. It is also an aspect of the invention that the male member which supports the appliance may be replaced with a second and subsequent male member with complete accuracy. Replacement of male members will permit the return of the restoration to the original state as problems of wear, retention, or other problems may develop.

US Patent:
43625096, Dec 7, 1982
Filed:
Nov 20, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/208643
Inventors:
Josef M. Sulc - Redmond WA
International Classification:
A61C 1322
US Classification:
433181
Abstract:
A connector for a dental appliance such as a partial denture, an overdenture or bridge, including a male member, a female member and an element including a body of resilient material mounted by one of the members. The element will be disposed between and in surface-to-surface engagement with the members when they are moved together and engaged telescopically. Mechanical latching structure is provided to latch the element to each member, with the latching structure between the element and the member that supports the dental appliance providing a stronger mechanical latch than that between the element and the member attached to the abutment within the oral cavity.

Adjustable Dental Implant System

View page
US Patent:
51958910, Mar 23, 1993
Filed:
Dec 6, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/623135
Inventors:
Josef M. Sulc - Wilton CT
International Classification:
A61C 800
US Classification:
433173
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an endosteal implant system and a method for mounting a dental prosthesis on one or more implants. The system comprises an implant, a two-piece anchor whereby one piece is an angled support for mounting a dental prosthesis and the second piece is a threaded base portion for securing to the implant. The support is seated within the base portion and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the base portion. The alignment is achieved by first threading in the base portion into the implant and rotating the support until a best alignment is made. An accurate visual intra-oral evaluation of the anchor alignment is made utilizing a unique alignment handle which is snapped into each support. If the alignment is not satisfactory, the support with the alignment handle can be rotated until a satisfactory alignment is achieved. If a satisfactory alignment is not visually indicated, differently angled prosthetic supports may be used in various bases to achieve a satisfactory alignment of all supports.

Automotive Mirror Adjustment System

US Patent:
20150224931, Aug 13, 2015
Filed:
Feb 11, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/619912
Inventors:
Josef M. Sulc - Mercer Island WA, US
International Classification:
B60R 1/06
Abstract:
Systems for optimizing adjustment of automotive side-view mirror assemblies are provided that aid in adjusting the side-view mirrors to reduce blind areas. In general, examples of the systems for optimizing adjustment of automotive side-view mirror assemblies described herein are located on the mirror and the housing. Embodiments of the system generally include a mirror having surface indicia marking a target zone, a housing attached to a vehicle, the housing supporting the mirror; and an alignment guide viewable in the mirror integrated into or attached to the housing. When the alignment guide is visible in the target zone of the mirror, the mirror is optimally adjusted, reducing or eliminating the blind areas normally caused by misadjustment of the side-view mirrors.
