Metal Halide Lamp With Enhanced Red Emission, In Excess Of A Blackbody

View page
US Patent:
6605888, Aug 12, 2003
Filed:
Oct 26, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/427305
Inventors:
John F. Waymouth - Marblehead MA
Timothy Lee Kelly - Boston MA
Stefaan Maria Lambrechts - Beverly Farms MA
Jakob Maya - Brookline MA
Assignee:
Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. - Osaka
International Classification:
H01J 516
US Classification:
313112, 313110, 359359
Abstract:
A metal halide lamp having excess amount of red radiation, well beyond a tungsten halogen lamp of the same color temperature. The deep saturated red being accomplished with reasonable efficacy utilizing a mixture of sodium and rare earth halides, additional broadening of the Na âDâ lines and filtering out the yellow radiation at about 590 nm. The red radiation is comparable to the commercially available white high pressure sodium lamp red radiation.

Apparatus And Methods For Making Capacitive Measurements Of Cathode Fall In Fluorescent Lamps

View page
US Patent:
7002301, Feb 21, 2006
Filed:
Apr 6, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/818667
Inventors:
John Francis Waymouth - Marblehead MA, US
Robert Thomas Nachtrieb - Lansdale PA, US
Farheen Khan - Coopersburg PA, US
Mark Alan Hartfield - Saint Joseph MI, US
Mark Stephen Taipale - Harleysville PA, US
Renzo Corrado DeMeo - Huntington NY, US
Russell Lawrence MacAdam - Coopersburg PA, US
Assignee:
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. - Coopersburg PA
International Classification:
H05B 39/00
G05F 1/00
US Classification:
315 94, 315105, 315224, 315291
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for measuring cathode fall in fluorescent lamps are disclosed. Together with measurements of cathode temperature, such measurements of cathode fall may inform a determination of cathode heater voltage as a function of discharge current (i. e. , a cathode-heating-profile) that avoids both sputtering and excess-evaporation.

US Patent:
7116055, Oct 3, 2006
Filed:
Apr 6, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/818664
Inventors:
John Francis Waymouth - Marblehead MA, US
Robert Thomas Nachtrieb - Lansdale PA, US
Farheen Khan - Coopersburg PA, US
Mark Alan Hartfield - Saint Joseph MI, US
Mark Stephen Taipale - Harleysville PA, US
Renzo Corrado DeMeo - Huntington NY, US
Russell Lawrence MacAdam - Coopersburg PA, US
Assignee:
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. - Coopersburg PA
International Classification:
H05B 37/02
US Classification:
315149, 315151
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are disclosed for measuring cathode fall within a fluorescent lamp that contains an electrode and a gas. A level of cathode fall associated with the electrode may be identified based on an intensity and wavelength of radiation emitted by the gas.
