A welding gun contact tip which seats within a retaining member and in two different seating locations relative to the contact member. The contact tip includes an interwoven-double-start thread having two thread cuts which start 180 degrees from one another as measured around the circumference of the contact tip. Additionally, the retaining member includes an interwoven-double-start thread having two thread cuts which start 180 degrees from one another as measured around the circumference of the contact tip. Because of the configuration of the interwoven-double-start threads, the two seating locations of the contact tip are 180 degrees apart thereby enabling the contact tip to be used twice as long as a conventional contact tip which includes a single cut thread. Further, the contact tip and retaining member include mating frustum surfaces which are configured and dimensioned so that the contact tip seats within the retaining member with less than one turn of the contact tip relative to the retaining member. Therefore, the contact tip may be quickly inserted in, and removed from, the retaining member.

An AC alarm system for protection against unauthorized intrusion having an alarm which consists of two pairs of adjacent bridge arms, each having at least one fixed resistor and a normally open switch shunted across at least one of the fixed resistors. The switches are normally open in a safety condition of the system and adapted to be closed during an unsafe condition. A variable resistor is also connected in series with one or more of the fixed resistors for balancing the bridge circuit. An AC transformer is provided having a secondary winding connected to opposite points of the bridge arms and two detection latch circuits are each connected at another of opposite points of the bridge arms for detecting a change in the resistance values of pairs of bridge arms and for producing a current in response to that change in order to actuate an alarm.

An alarm switch includes a hollow casing having a keyhole and a finger opening formed therein, at least one electrical switch mounted in the casing having a spring-loaded actuation pin, a reversible cam pivotably mounted in the casing for movement between a first position, in which it is held in biased engagement with the switch pin so as to maintain the pin in a retracted biased state, and a second release position, in which it is disposed in a substantially non-engaging position with said pin so as to permit extension of said pin and triggering of an alarm signal by the electrical switch, a block slidably mounted in the casing having at least one latch lug which, in a first position of the block, maintains the cam in biased engagement with the switch pin and, in a second position of the block, releases the cam to permit movement to its release position so as to thereby activate the alarm. The cam has a bevelled end face and is removably mounted in said casing to permit mounting thereof with its bevelled end face directed towards or away from the actuation pin. Depending upon the cam disposition, the switch will function as either a momentary or latching switch.

A self-adhesive crossover foil for use in security alarm systems consisting of a lead conductor foil, a Mylar insulating foil, adhesively joined to one surface of the lead foil, the Mylar strip being at least as wide as the lead foil, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive, disposed on the exposed surface of the Mylar foil opposite the surface adjoining the insulator to the lead foil. The crossover foil additionally includes a release strip which is coupled to the pressure-sensitive adhesive. In a further embodiment, the Mylar insulating strip is substantially wider than the lead foil strip.

An intrusion detecting apparatus for an alarm system to signal breakage and movement of a door, window, or other movable partition comprises an elongated member forming an interior channel in which is disposed a switch actuating element for motion into and out of cooperative relation with a switch element supported on the channel. The switch actuating element is connected to the partition by a tensile member and is coupled to the elongated member by a spring so that movement of the partition from a predetermined position causes the switch actuating element to move out of cooperative relationship with the switch element and movement of the partition back to the predetermined position restores the element to a cooperative relationship. The tensile member may include a pair of electrical conductors which are connected to a device for detecting breakage of the partition.
