Clampless Fluid Transfer Hose Coupling

View page
US Patent:
6394504, May 28, 2002
Filed:
Apr 4, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/542814
Inventors:
John L. Brummans - Warren MI
Steven M. Haar - White Lake MI
Scott D. Wixom - Oxford MI
Thomas K. Lockwood - Fenton MI
Assignee:
General Motors Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
F16L 2700
US Classification:
2851361, 285 13, 285 14, 285 93, 28513711, 285319, 285921, 285924
Abstract:
A clampless coupling which attaches a hose to a nipple without need of a clamp at the end of the hose to ensure sealing, including a connector and a nipple of a fluid system component. The connector is sealingly pre-connected at one end with a hose; the opposite end is in the form of a sleeve. The sleeve features a notch at its forward end, a boss on a resilient lock arm, and an O-ring seal. The nipple has a pocket depressionally formed on its outside nipple surface and an alignment tab. In operation, a user slides the sleeve over the nipple by pressing the connector toward the near end of the nipple. As the sleeve slides over the nipple, the tab is received by the notch to align the connector with the nipple, the boss drops abuttably into the pocket, and the O-ring seal sealingly compresses between the nipple and the connector. A seal assurance feature reveals improper connection when a pressure test is undertaken.

View page
US Patent:
6668955, Dec 30, 2003
Filed:
Dec 6, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/455341
Inventors:
James W. Kosakowski - St. Clair Shores MI
John L. Brummans - Warren MI
Timothy R. Hoye - Wyandotte MI
Tehui Peng - Rochester Hills MI
Edward J. Strzelecki - Oxford MI
Assignee:
General Motors Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
B60K 1104
US Classification:
180 684, 180 6923
Abstract:
A mounting system for a heat exchanger includes an isolator fabricated of a nitrile rubber material to dampen vibrations. The isolator includes a body portion and a pair of legs. The body portion includes a pair of openings sized to receive a vehicle hood latch support. The legs include contoured inner surfaces and are sized to straddle the top surface of the heat exchanger. A vehicle hood latch support assembly is frictionally attached within the isolator body portion openings. As the vehicle is initially assembled, the isolator legs straddle the heat exchanger to secure the heat exchanger to the vehicle.

US Patent:
6358087, Mar 19, 2002
Filed:
Oct 16, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/688250
Inventors:
Steven M. Haar - White Lake MI
John L. Brummans - Warren MI
Thomas K. Lockwood - Fenton MI
Assignee:
General Motors Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
H01R 1360
US Classification:
439567, 439564, 24822212
Abstract:
An assembly and method for installing a snap-fit electrical connector, wherein the assembly includes a base; at least one pair of flange members supported by the base for locating a tether, cable or other electrical wiring; at least one pair of resilient members supported by the flanges forming the pair of flange members for engaging a mating recess or opening; and at least one pair of second flange members supported by the base for providing a snap-fit connection with a second mating recess or opening. The snap-fit connector assembly also includes an electrical connector portion supported by the base for providing a location for establishing an electrical connection.
