Abstract:
Disclosed is a low cost LED string circuit design that uses an inexpensive half-wave rectification and low-pass filter circuit that is designed to produce minimal flicker in the LED string that is connected to the circuit. The components of the half-wave rectification and low-pass filter circuit are selected in accordance with design principles that prevent glittering and flickering of the LED string. The circuit components of the half-wave rectification and low-pass filter circuit can be embedded in an outlet plug or as a separate independent unit between an AC power plug and the LED string.

Disclosed is a three-piece light emitting diode lamp. The lamp comprises a lamp holder that encapsulates and seals various connectors and connections. A removable light emitting diode is inserted into contact sockets so that the light emitting diode can be easily replaced. Various techniques are used to provide proper polarity for placement of the light emitting diode in the contact sockets. Abstract:
Disclosed are circuits that allow LED bulbs to be replaced regardless of color or construction of the LED element. When used for an LED light string, replacing an LED bulb does not affect the operation of the entire string. When used for other illumination purpose, for example, room light, the bulbs are interchangeable because they have the same operating voltage and current. A standardized input impedance is selected for all of the LED bulbs regardless of construction and color. A resistor circuit is used to create the standardized input impedance while optimizing the operating parameters of the LED element. The resistor circuit includes a bypass element so that if a LED element burns open, a series wired LED string will not go dark. This eliminates the necessity for parallel connected LED bulbs and allows enjoyment of other advantages and economies of series wired LED strings.

Abstract:
A capacitive full-wave circuit for LED light strings makes use of capacitors and diodes together to drive a LED string with full AC waves. Different from the conventional four-diode full-wave rectifying circuit, one embodiment of capacitive full-wave circuit includes two capacitors and two diodes. Because of the large imaginary impedance, the capacitors not only limit and the voltage and current through the LEDs, but also consume almost no electrical power. The electrical current-voltage performance can be further improved by introducing four resistors with a cost of some additional power consumption. A LED light string module with the capacitive full-wave circuit is also presented, with the capacitive full-wave circuit integrated inside of a front power plug and a back power socket.
