Inflating Device And Method Of Use

View page
US Patent:
6510875, Jan 28, 2003
Filed:
Dec 15, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/738576
Inventors:
Jiafu Fang - Spring TX
Troy H. Scriven - Waterford NY
Dewey P. Szemenyei - The Woodlands TX
Assignee:
Pennzoil - Houston TX
International Classification:
B65B 3100
US Classification:
141 4, 141 9, 141 38, 141 44, 141 67, 141 95, 141100
Abstract:
A new inflating device and method for inflating an inflatable object are described. The inflating device includes two compartments: one containing a gas-generating agent and the other containing an activating agent. When mixed, the gas-generating agent and the activating agent produces a gas in situ. The device further includes an activator connected to both compartments and is capable of effectuating mixing between the two agents upon activation. A hose assembly of the inflating device delivers a the gas generated to an inflatable object, such as a flat tire.

Tire Sealing And Inflating Composition And Method Of Use

View page
US Patent:
6605654, Aug 12, 2003
Filed:
Jul 14, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/616360
Inventors:
Jiafu Fang - Spring TX
Dewey P. Szemenyei - The Woodlands TX
Troy H. Scriven - Waterford NY
Assignee:
Pennzoil-Quaker State Company - Houston TX
International Classification:
C09K 310
US Classification:
523166, 524423, 524424, 524425, 524426, 528490
Abstract:
A new composition, method, and apparatus for sealing and inflating a flat tire are described. The new composition includes a gas-generating agent and an activator, along with a sealant. In use, a gas propellant is generated in situ when the gas-generating agent is mixed with the activator. For example, carbon dioxide is generated when carbonates, such as baking soda, and an acid are mixed. The carbon dioxide gas generated in this manner can inflate a flat tire to a desired pressure. In addition to carbon dioxide, nitrogen gas, noble gases, and nitrous oxide gas may also be used instead.

The coatings are be formulated for temporary or long term protection depending upon the application.

Self-Lubricating Diesel Fuel And Method Of Making And Using Same

View page
US Patent:
7598426, Oct 6, 2009
Filed:
Sep 6, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/488820
Inventors:
Jiafu Fang - Spring TX, US
Selda Gunsel - The Woodlands TX, US
Assignee:
Shell Oil Company - Houston TX
International Classification:
C10L 1/18
US Classification:
585 14, 44388
Abstract:
A diesel fuel comprising a mixture of normal paraffins and branched paraffins. The normal paraffins present in the diesel fuel is less than about 99% by weight; and the aromatic content in the diesel fuel is less than about 10% by weight. The diesel fuel has a cetane number of at least 40 and a sulfur content of less than about 100 ppm. Optionally, the diesel fuel may further include cycloparaffins, i. e. , naphthenes. To increase the lubricity of the diesel fuel, a lubricity additive, such as fatty acid methyl ester, can be added to the diesel fuel.

Method And Apparatus For Inflating Objects

View page
US Patent:
20020112777, Aug 22, 2002
Filed:
Dec 15, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/737885
Inventors:
Jiafu Fang - Spring TX, US
Troy Scriven - Waterford NY, US
Assignee:
Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
International Classification:
B65B031/00
US Classification:
141/038000, 141/005000
Abstract:
A new sealant container and a tire sealing and inflating device are described. Methods of utilizing the device also are described. The new device includes a sealant container with a sealant composition; but it preferably does not include an internal propellant and preferably is not aerosol-based. In use, the sealant container is connected to a flat tire and to a pressure source which provides an external propellant. As the external propellant passes through the sealant container, the sealant composition inside the sealant container is carried to a flat tire. The tire puncture is sealed by the sealant composition, and the flat tire is inflated by the propellant.
