Assignee:
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 15/18
US Classification:
706 12
Abstract:
An approach is presented for identifying related problem tickets in an information technology (IT) environment. User interactions with a computer program are stored. The user interactions include inputs to the computer program to search for problem tickets issued in the IT environment that have the same characteristics. One or more user interaction patterns within the user interactions are recognized. A user interaction pattern of the one or more user interaction patterns is selected based on an evaluation of effectiveness of each of the one or more user interaction patterns. Based on the user interaction pattern, a rule is generated for determining which problem tickets in the IT environment share a common characteristic. The rule is applied to additional problem tickets issued in the IT environment to identify which of the additional problem tickets share the common characteristic.

Filed:
Sep 4, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/018082
Inventors:
Charles M. Lieber - Lexington MA, US
Jia Liu - Somerville MA, US
Bozhi Tian - Chicago IL, US
Tal Dvir - Rishon le Zion, IL
Robert S. Langer - Newton MA, US
Daniel S. Kohane - Newton MA, US
Assignee:
President and Fellows of Harvard College - Cambridge MA

Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
A61L 27/30
C12M 1/12
US Classification:
623 2372, 435395
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to nanoscale wires and tissue engineering. In various embodiments, cell scaffolds for growing cells or tissues can be formed that include nanoscale wires that can be connected to electronic circuits extending externally of the cell scaffold. The nanoscale wires may form an integral part of cells or tissues grown from the cell scaffold, and can even be determined or controlled, e.g., using various electronic circuits. This approach allows for the creation of fundamentally new types of functionalized cells and tissues, due to the high degree of electronic control offered by the nanoscale wires and electronic circuits. Accordingly, such cell scaffolds can be used to grow cells or tissues which can be determined and/or controlled at very high resolutions, due to the presence of the nanoscale wires, and such cell scaffolds will find use in a wide variety of novel applications, including applications in tissue engineering, prosthetics, pacemakers, implants, or the like.

Methods Of And Apparatus For Measuring Picosecond Semiconductor Laser Pulse Duration Using The Internally Generated Second Harmonic Emission Accompanying The Laser Output

View page
US Patent:
47721189, Sep 20, 1988
Filed:
Jul 14, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/884848
Inventors:
Jia M. Liu - Arlington MA
Ying C. Chen - Closter NJ
Assignee:
GTE Laboratories Incorporated - Waltham MA
International Classification:
G01J 100
US Classification:
356121
Abstract:
The duration of a very short semiconductor laser pulse, such as that ranging from a fraction to hundreds to picoseconds, can be measured utilizing the internally generated second harmonic emission of the laser. A laser diode is driven so that light emitted therefrom can pass through a beam splitter and be reflected by the beam-splitter into a photomultiplier and into a detector, respectively. Signals received therefrom relate to the conversion efficiency of the second harmonic emission generated by the picosecond pulses and of either continuous wave emission or pulse emission whose durations can be accurately measured by photodetectors. Apparatus includes a photodiode for measuring the fundamental laser power, a photomultiplier for measuring the second harmonic power, and appropriate filters. Ammeters coupled to the photodiode and photomultiplier measure the appropriate current. The ratio of the current can be determined by a ratio circuit or a computer.

A script based on the pattern of actions is generated. A root cause of the problem is determined based on the text and statistical analyses. Responsive to a receipt of a new problem ticket, the script is executed to automatically perform the pattern of actions. The new problem ticket is classified as being in a group of problem tickets which are related to the problem and included in the historical problem tickets. The new problem ticket is determined to specify the problem which has the root cause.
