The state of the world economy is top-of-mind for many people right now, and the United States Census Bureau saw an opportunity to play a bigger role in that story. Most people are unaware that the organization tracks many economic indicators that measure the health of the American economy. The Bureau came to Sapient to bring a renewed focus on what the Bureau does and how citizens can utilize the wealth of data the Census collects, measures, and monitors. With this intent, we created several mobile apps which provides a stream of updated statistics on the U.S. economy, fed by data from three government offices: the U.S. Department of Commerce's Census Bureau, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. With almost 10,000 downloads to date, the app received positive feedback with an average review of 4.3 on a scale of 1 to 5.
