Automatic Association Of Local Area Network Station Addresses With A Repeater Port

View page
US Patent:
51795540, Jan 12, 1993
Filed:
Apr 8, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/682186
Inventors:
Jeffrey Lomicka - Maynard MA
Willem Engelse - Townsend MA
Assignee:
Digital Equipment Corporation - Maynard MA
International Classification:
H04L 1246
US Classification:
370 8513
Abstract:
Automatic tracking of the topology of an extended local area network by augmenting a station address list kept by a bridge with a list of repeater numbers and repeater port numbers. The bridge periodically iterates through its list of stations to select a station address. The selected address table is forwarded to all of the repeaters connected to the bridge. The repeaters watch for the selected address appearing as a source address in a message on one of their ports. If the address is seen, they report the repeater port number back to the bridge. Because the repeaters are interconnected such that a predetermined port number is always used as the common port between repeaters, any possible ambiguities are eliminated.

Disposition Filtering Of Messages Using A Single Address And Protocol Table Bridge

View page
US Patent:
55155138, May 7, 1996
Filed:
Mar 23, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/410546
Inventors:
Stephen D. Metzger - Lancaster MA
Jeffrey A. Lomicka - Maynard MA
Gary Vacon - Melrose MA
Pat Gili - Westfield MA
Assignee:
Digital Equipment Corporation - Maynard MA
International Classification:
H04J 300
H04J 324
H04L 1246
US Classification:
39520015
Abstract:
An arrangement for selective filtering, e. g. one-way filtering, of messages received by a 2-port bridge from stations connected to two LANs of an extended LAN is provided. The bridge includes a message filtering database containing the addresses of all stations connected to one of the LANs. The database also contains a list of higher-level protocols employed by the stations. Associated with each protocol-type is information used by the bridge to dispose of the message. The message filtering database comprises a single table memory capable of supporting both ports of the bridge. The selective filtering process involves a two-step analysis by the bridge to determine whether to discard the message or forward it to another port. The analysis is based on a destination address and a protocol-type of the received message.

Near Real-Time Collaboration For Media Production

View page
US Patent:
20210409471, Dec 30, 2021
Filed:
Nov 10, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/093748
Inventors:
- Burlington MA, US
Paul Vercellotti - Albany CA, US
Jeffrey A. Lomicka - Chelmsford MA, US
Timothy H. Claman - Andover MA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
Abstract:
Near real-time collaborative media production by parties located remotely from each other is facilitated by the described methods. Automated dialog replacement with voice talent, editing system operator, and director located remotely from each other is supported by generating synchronized near real-time feeds for the operator and director. Pre-recorded media played back from the editing system is streamed without delay to the talent. A pre-recorded media feed is also delayed to synchronize it with the incoming talent stream, which was recorded in sync with the pre-recorded media stream when received by the talent. The synchronized feed is output to the operator and streamed to the director. Talkback channels and webcam video with appropriate synchronization delays support communication among the parties. Other methods support automatic punch-in and punch-out of remotely recorded dialog replacement, and automatic contextual switching and overlaying of inter-party communication video based on the state of the media editing application.
