It may have been one 26 mile race that happened over 20 years ago, but for Jeff Blahnik, it proved to be a timeless lesson in the power of perseverance. With the heat of a hot summer's sun beating down on his back, Jeff Blahnik could feel the burning in his legs growing stronger with every single stride. Before moving to Grand Rapids with his family at the age of ten, Jeff was raised on a small dairy farm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While living on the farm was often tiring, it also instilled him with strong family values and an internal drive to succeed that has never wavered. Indeed, his drive and work ethic not only enabled him to persevere down the road in track and field, but in life itself. Determined to carve his own path in life, Jeff worked two jobs and, oftentimes, triple shifts to put himself through college. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in history, Jeff realized he wanted a career where he alone could control his destiny. He entered the world of real estate and once again his power of perseverance would prove critical.Rising to the Challenge In the early '80s Grand Rapids, like many cities, was feeling the squeeze of a great recession. Times were tough especially on Jeff, who was starting a family with his new wife, Ruth. But with Jeff's strong work ethic and drive to succeed, failure was never an option. In fact, while changing real estate companies, an office manager made the mistake of implying that Jeff could never survive without his support. Little did he know that Jeff would not only rise to the challenge but use it is as a constant source of motivation on his way to the top of the Grand Rapids real estate industry.
