Application Programming Interface (Api) Router Implementation And Method

View page
US Patent:
20120047494, Feb 23, 2012
Filed:
Aug 17, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/857941
Inventors:
Jason Unrein - Wichita KS, US
Rose George - Colorado Springs CO, US
Assignee:
LSI CORPORATION - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
G06F 9/45
US Classification:
717137, 717136
Abstract:
An application programming interface (API) implementation that can interface between an application and a programming library. The implementation includes a Function Router Wrapper that receives a formatted string from the application. The formatted string includes a function name element filled with a function name, an input element filled with function input parameters, and an unfilled output element. The Function Router Wrapper converts the formatted string and passes it to a Function Router, which parses the converted formatted string to access the function name and the function input parameters. The Function Router calls a library function based on the accessed information. When the called library function is completed, the Function Router collects generated function outputs and embeds them into the formatted string output element. The Function Router passes the formatted string back up to the Function Router Wrapper, which converts the formatted string and passes it back up to the application.

Server Direct Attached Storage Shared Through Physical Sas Expanders

View page
US Patent:
20140025850, Jan 23, 2014
Filed:
Jul 17, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/550799
Inventors:
Luiz D. Varchavtchik - Wichita KS, US
Reid A. Kaufmann - Andover KS, US
Jason A. Unrein - Wichita KS, US
Assignee:
LSI CORPORATION - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
G06F 13/12
US Classification:
710 74
Abstract:
A system and method for servers to belong to a cascaded cluster of nodes (or servers) is disclosed. Servers share storage in common without the need of an external element such as a switch and or external storage device. SAS technology is used with direct attached drives in each node, and connections between each node, to emulate a SAN environment through a cascaded SAS topology. SAS HBAs each containing an SAS expander, connect elements internal to each server with elements external to each. This cascaded DAS clustering enables bi-directional traffic from each server in the cluster to all other servers and their attached drives.

Device Abstracted Zone Management Of Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface Topologies

View page
US Patent:
20150286604, Oct 8, 2015
Filed:
Sep 26, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/038166
Inventors:
Benjamin Knoblauch - Milpitas CA, US
Charles D. Henry - Wichita KS, US
Jason A. Unrein - Wichita KS, US
Assignee:
LSI Corporation - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 13/42
G06F 13/40
Abstract:
Systems and methods provide zone management for devices in a Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface (SAS) topology. In one embodiment, a zone management device stores a zone map that identifies an initial zone of a device in the topology. The management device detects changes in the topology, and identifies a current zone of the device subsequent to the change in the topology. The management device compares the zone map for the device to the current zone to identify a change in the zone of the device, and generates a message for an expander in the topology based on the change in the zone. The management device then transmits the message to the expander to restore the zone of the device to the initial zone.
