James J. Van Ackeren - Wilmington CA
Assignee:
AlliedSignal Inc. - Morris Township, Morris County NJ
International Classification:
H01M 812
US Classification:
429 32
Abstract:
A fuel cell comprises an anode, a cathode, a solid electrolyte disposed between the anode and the cathode, and interconnect means for providing an electrical connection located adjacent to either the cathode or the anode but not adjacent to the solid electrolyte. The interconnect means includes an interconnect layer having a composition of (i) a mixture of an electrical conductor and a ceramic matrix material that is sinterable in an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of less than about 1500. degree. C. , (ii) a mixture of a lanthanum chromite-based ceramic and a yttrium chromite-based ceramic, or (iii) a yttrium chromite-based ceramic of the form Y. sub. w-x-y Ca. sub. x Zr. sub. y Cr. sub. v-z Zn. sub. z O. sub. 3 , where w is from about 0. 9 to about 1.

Liquid Biocidal Compositions Compriing A Mixture Of Silver Ions And Sodium Pectate

View page
US Patent:
42897580, Sep 15, 1981
Filed:
Aug 18, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/178755
Inventors:
James W. Van Leuven - Duarte CA
Assignee:
Aquatain Partnership - Arcadia CA
International Classification:
A01N 5916
C11D 348
US Classification:
424132
Abstract:
A liquid biocidal agent that has bacteriostatic and viricidal activities is described. The composition includes about 100 to 400 parts per million sodium polypectate, about 13 to 250 parts per million silver ion, about 4 to 8% glycerine, sufficient base such as ammonium hydroxide to maintain a pH in the range of from about 7. 2 to 7. 8, and distilled water. The composition is useful for treating Herpes virus, condyloma, and for preventing Staphylococcus aures infection.

Photomultiplier Detector Protection Device And Method

View page
US Patent:
44369948, Mar 13, 1984
Filed:
Dec 28, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/334810
Inventors:
James G. Van Vliet - La Habra CA
James R. Brown - Huntington Beach CA
Assignee:
Beckman Instruments, Inc. - Fullerton CA
International Classification:
H01J 3150
US Classification:
250207
Abstract:
A photomultiplier detector protection system and method utilizing a negative feedback loop to maintain the photomultiplier detector output below a predetermined output. The feedback loop comprises a comparator responsive to the photomultiplier detector output and also responsive to a predetermined limit signal. The comparator output is applied to a summing amplifier which also receives a voltage adjust signal. The output of the summing amplifier controls the output of a power supply which is in turn applied to the photomultiplier detector.

Mounting System For Auxiliary Fuel Tank

View page
US Patent:
61491020, Nov 21, 2000
Filed:
Mar 25, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/047758
Inventors:
John Richard Marasco - Mesa AZ
James R. Van Horn - Scottsdale AZ
Assignee:
Robertson Aviation LLC - Tempe AZ
International Classification:
B64D 3700
US Classification:
244135R
Abstract:
A mounting system includes a restraint pan into which an auxiliary fuel tank is placed, a harness extending over the fuel tank, and a pair of brackets each having a corner receptacle for engaging a corner of the fuel tank. The corner receptacles are each reinforced by a gusset. Each bracket includes two arms having a pair of holes that align with each other. The first holes receives a bolt, making a pivoting joint between the arms and the second holes receive a removable pin for aligning the two arms in a locked position. Each end of the brackets is a clevis for engaging a cargo ring. The harness includes a pair of straps interconnected by a web and ratchets for tightening the straps. The pan prevents horizontal movement of the fuel tank, the harness resists vertical movement of the fuel tank, and the brackets prevent vertical motion and tipping motion of the fuel tank.

Graphics Memory Expansion System

View page
US Patent:
44397623, Mar 27, 1984
Filed:
Dec 28, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/334807
Inventors:
James G. Van Vliet - La Habra CA
Frank M. Aralis - Irvine CA
Assignee:
Beckman Instruments, Inc. - Fullerton CA
International Classification:
G09G 102
US Classification:
340750
Abstract:
A video display memory expansion system for expanding the graphics memory within the video display. The memory expansion system is suited for increasing the resolution of a graphics display from a low-resolution to a high-resolution display. A video display device is adapted to receive a relatively simple graphics memory expansion accessory to thereby easily and inexpensively provide the increased graphics memory capability.

Signal Stability Recognition

View page
US Patent:
43756018, Mar 1, 1983
Filed:
Jul 7, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/166521

Beckman Instruments, Inc. - Fullerton CA
International Classification:
H03K 1728
H03K 526
US Classification:
307592
Abstract:
Apparatus for indicating when an analog or digital input signal remains sufficiently stable for a predetermined length of time. The apparatus continuously monitors the input signal instead of sampling it only at discrete points in time. The apparatus includes a memory which stores the value of the input signal at the time of the most recent occurrence of a reset signal, a comparator which produces the reset signal whenever the input signal differs from the memory signal by an amount greater than that allowed by a predetermined comparison criterion, and a timer for indicating that the input signal is stable when the reset signal has not been produced for a time exceeding the predetermined length of time.
