Abstract:
A latchbolt configured for use with a door lock assembly. The door lock assembly is configured for interaction with a strike coupled to a door frame, and operable to place the latchbolt in a locked configuration using the strike to generally prevent rotation of the door and an unlocked configuration to allow rotation of the door. The latchbolt includes a first member and a second member movably coupled to the first member. When the latchbolt is in the locked configuration the second member is movable relative to the first member from a first position to a second position in response to a predetermined force applied to the door.

International Classification:
E05B 47/00
US Classification:
70277, 70472, 70224, 70215, 2923363, 292357
Abstract:
An electronic door lock for a door having a first side and a second side. The electronic door lock includes an escutcheon including a first aperture. A non-circular spring cage extends through the first aperture, and the spring cage includes a second aperture. A spring cage spindle at least partially extends through the second aperture, and the spring cage spindle extends from the spring cage and includes a third aperture. A key cylinder is received in the third aperture. A handle including a fourth aperture receives the key cylinder and the spring cage spindle, and a fastener is received by the handle. The fastener is configured to couple the handle to the spring cage spindle and inhibit movement of the handle with respect to the spring cage spindle.

US Patent:
20130008213, Jan 10, 2013
Filed:
Sep 14, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/618712
Inventors:
James W. Brown - Westfield IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
Alfred S. Levesque - Newington CT, US
Assignee:
SCHLAGE LOCK COMPANY LLC - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
E05B 49/02
E05B 63/14
E05B 47/02
US Classification:
70264, 70280, 702781
Abstract:
An electronic door lock is operable to control access to an access controlled area adjacent the inner side of a door. The door lock includes an outer base, an inner base, a locking mechanism movable between a locked and unlocked position in response to a control signal, and a control circuit disposed within the inner base and operable to generate the control signal in response to the presentation of an input credential. A plurality of different types of credential readers are each selectively attachable and removable from an attachment interface when the outer base is attached to the door to electrically connect the selected one of the plurality of different types of credential readers to the control circuit. The selected credential reader receives data from a user or credential and generates the input credential. A communication module is operable to communicate with a device separate from the electronic door lock.

Bolt Indicator

US Patent:
20230107083, Apr 6, 2023
Filed:
Oct 1, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/492052
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05B 41/00
E05B 65/10
Abstract:
An exemplary access control device is configured for mounting to a door and includes a bolt, an actuator, and an indicator. The bolt has an extended position and a retracted position, and includes a front face that is visible when the bolt is extended and the door is in a closed position. The actuator is operable to move the bolt from the extended position to the retracted position. The indicator is positioned on the front face of the bolt such that at least a portion of the indicator is visible when the bolt is extended and the door is in the closed position.

Filed:
Apr 19, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/724114
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
Michael D. Coleman - Noblesville IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
Phillip Palmer - Indianapolis IN, US
Matthew Greathouse - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05B 65/10
E05B 65/00
E05B 15/00
Abstract:
An exemplary closure assembly includes a swinging barrier, a pushbar assembly mounted to a first side of the barrier, a remote trim assembly mounted to a second side of the barrier, and a transmission assembly that extends at least partially through the barrier and couples remote trim assembly and the pushbar assembly. The pushbar assembly includes a latchbolt and a pushbar operable to retract the latchbolt. The remote trim includes a handle that is operably coupled with the latchbolt via the transmission assembly such that the handle is operable to retract the latchbolt. The handle is positioned above the pushbar such that a vertical offset distance is defined therebetween. Door Closer Adjustment Mechanism

View page
US Patent:
20200347657, Nov 5, 2020
Filed:
Apr 30, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/398874
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
David V. Toloday - Martinsville IN, US
Nagesh Varadaraju - Bangalore, IN
Aditya Heblikar - Ballari, IN
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05F 1/08
Abstract:
Certain embodiments relate to an adjustment indicator mechanism for a door closer including a tubular portion and an adjustment screw mounted to the tubular portion. A housing is configured for mounting to the door closer, and includes a channel and indicia adjacent the channel, each of the indicia corresponding to a respective size of the door closer. An adjustment transmission includes a first component configured for coupling with the adjustment screw. An indicator transmission is engaged with the adjustment transmission and mounted in the housing. An indicator is movably mounted to the housing such that a portion of the indicator is visible via the channel. The indicator is engaged with the indicator transmission such that movement of the indicator transmission causes the indicator to selectively align with the indicia to thereby indicate the current size of the door closer.
