Filed:
Oct 1, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/492052
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05B 41/00
E05B 65/10
Abstract:
An exemplary access control device is configured for mounting to a door and includes a bolt, an actuator, and an indicator. The bolt has an extended position and a retracted position, and includes a front face that is visible when the bolt is extended and the door is in a closed position. The actuator is operable to move the bolt from the extended position to the retracted position. The indicator is positioned on the front face of the bolt such that at least a portion of the indicator is visible when the bolt is extended and the door is in the closed position.

Electronic Door With Key-In-Lever Feature

View page
US Patent:
20210164263, Jun 3, 2021
Filed:
Oct 13, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/069452
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
Alfred S. Levesque - Newington CT, US
International Classification:
E05B 47/00
E05B 63/00
G07C 9/00
E05B 17/20
E05B 47/06
Abstract:
An electronic door lock is operable to control access to an access controlled area adjacent the inner side of a door. The door lock includes an outer base, an inner base, a locking mechanism movable between a locked and unlocked position in response to a control signal, and a control circuit disposed within the inner base and operable to generate the control signal in response to the presentation of an input credential, A plurality of different types of credential readers are each selectively attachable and removable from an attachment interface when the outer base is attached to the door to electrically connect the selected one of the plurality of different types of credential readers to the control circuit. The selected credential reader receives data from a user or credential and generates the input credential. A communication module is operable to communicate with a device separate from the electronic door lock.

Door Closer Adjustment Mechanism

View page
US Patent:
20200347657, Nov 5, 2020
Filed:
Apr 30, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/398874
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
David V. Toloday - Martinsville IN, US
Nagesh Varadaraju - Bangalore, IN
Aditya Heblikar - Ballari, IN
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05F 1/08
Abstract:
Certain embodiments relate to an adjustment indicator mechanism for a door closer including a tubular portion and an adjustment screw mounted to the tubular portion. A housing is configured for mounting to the door closer, and includes a channel and indicia adjacent the channel, each of the indicia corresponding to a respective size of the door closer. An adjustment transmission includes a first component configured for coupling with the adjustment screw. An indicator transmission is engaged with the adjustment transmission and mounted in the housing. An indicator is movably mounted to the housing such that a portion of the indicator is visible via the channel. The indicator is engaged with the indicator transmission such that movement of the indicator transmission causes the indicator to selectively align with the indicia to thereby indicate the current size of the door closer.

User Sensing Exit Device

US Patent:
20190345738, Nov 14, 2019
Filed:
Jul 9, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/506749
Inventors:
- Carmel IN, US
James W. Overbey - Indianapolis IN, US
Yong Kwan Lacy - Carmel IN, US
Jarrett Bartlett - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
E05B 65/10
E05B 47/00
E05F 15/73
E05F 15/77
E05F 15/75
Abstract:
One embodiment relates to an exit device assembly. The exit device assembly includes a center case, a push pad movably mounted on the center case, and a mechanical case coupled to the center case, wherein the exit device includes an opening. The assembly also includes a sensor aligned with the opening, wherein the sensor is structured to detect a user from a distance through the opening and to generate an output signal in response to detecting the user. The assembly also includes a latch and a latch actuator. The assembly also includes a controller in communication with the sensor and the latch actuator, wherein the controller is structured to transmit an actuating signal in response to receiving the output signal from the sensor, wherein the latch actuator is configured to move the latch from the locked position to the unlocked position in response to the actuating signal.
