Filed:
Aug 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/922561
Inventors:
Graham N. Beland - Las Vegas NV, US
William J. Buttram - Las Vegas NV, US
Michael H. Cox - Las Vegas NV, US
James B. Gover - Las Vegas NV, US
James J. Gietzen - Las Vegas NV, US

Donald D. Rolfe - Las Vegas NV, US
Rodney D. Wardle - Las Vegas NV, US
John S. Williams - Las Vegas NV, US
Brian W. Young - Las Vegas NV, US
Scott Fisher - Las Vegas NV, US
Assignee:
Wynn Resorts Holdings, LLC - Las Vegas NV
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345 11, 345108, 345110, 40453, 40464
Abstract:
A sign structure having a display, movable member and computer means creates a unique vehicle for displaying content. In one version, the movable member is adjacent to the display and substantially shields a portion of the display as it traverses thereover. Coordinated content transmitted to the display gives the appearance that the movable member is influencing the displayed content. For example, as the member moves upward an image below the member stretches in size while an image above the member compresses in size until the upper image disappears and the lower image occupies the entire visible portion of the display. This continues as the member traverses up and down over the display. The member may appear to manipulate the images by stretching, compressing, pushing, pulling and/or erasing them.

US Patent:
7936564, May 3, 2011
Filed:
Nov 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/620148
Inventors:
Clifford B. Brown - Smithfield UT, US
Brent W. Brown - Farmington UT, US
James B. Gover - Las Vegas NV, US
Assignee:
Young Electric Sign Company - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
H05K 7/20
G09F 21/04
US Classification:
361695, 361688, 361690, 361694, 454184, 40591
Abstract:
Mobile display apparatus and methods of operating mobile display apparatus are disclosed. Mobile display apparatus include a structure for attaching the display apparatus to a mobile structure and at least one display module coupled to the structure. The mobile display apparatus may include a ventilation feature. Methods of operating mobile display apparatus include disposing a plurality of removable display modules within a frame structure. A channel may be formed between the plurality of removable display modules and the frame structure and fluid may be forced through the channel and at least partially across the plurality of removable display modules.

Apparatus And Method For Control Of Multiple Displays

View page
US Patent:
8289301, Oct 16, 2012
Filed:
Nov 7, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/936609
Inventors:
James B. Gover - Las Vegas NV, US
Graham N. Beland - Hyde Park UT, US
Assignee:
Young Electric Sign Company - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
G06F 3/038
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345204, 345 11, 345 89
Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed for presenting media content on display systems. The display system includes two or more displays. In some display systems, the displays may be oriented in at least two different directions. Each of the displays are connected to a graphics communication bus. The graphics communication bus communicates common content information for the displays and discrete radiance-control information, which may contain different intensity and color control information for each of the displays. Each of the displays present the content information and adjust radiance characteristics of its display in response to the discrete radiance-control information associated with that display. The display system may include a computing system for controlling the graphics communication bus. The display system may also include ambient light sensors on each facet of the multifaceted display.

Apparatus And Method For Mapping Virtual Pixels To Physical Light Elements Of A Display

View page
US Patent:
8502758, Aug 6, 2013
Filed:
Dec 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/635636
Inventors:
Graham N. Beland - Wellsville UT, US
James Blake Gover - Las Vegas NV, US
Clifford B. Brown - Smithfield UT, US
Brent W. Brown - Farmington UT, US
Assignee:
Young Electric Sign Company - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
G09G 3/32
US Classification:
345 83, 345 55, 345 82
Abstract:
Methods and displays are disclosed for presenting media content on display systems. A display is configured as an array of LEDs. The array of LEDs includes a first set of rows including first LEDs in a repeating pattern of a first color LED, a second color LED, and a third color LED. A second set of rows includes second LEDs in a repeating pattern of the first color LED, the second color LED, and the third color LED, wherein the second set of rows are interleaved between the first set of rows and the second LEDs are offset relative to the first LEDs. Visual content to be presented on the display includes a repeating sequence of four frames of an array of virtual pixels such that each virtual pixel of the array comprises at least one of the first LEDs and at least one of the second LEDs.

Overhead Animated Light Display

US Patent:
57723117, Jun 30, 1998
Filed:
Nov 20, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/559616
Inventors:
John S. Williams - Las Vegas NV
Dennis R. Harrison - Las Vegas NV
James Blake Gover - Las Vegas NV
Assignee:
Young Electric Sign Company - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
F21V 1900
US Classification:
362238
Abstract:
An overhead arcade-like light display is disclosed. The display comprises a canopy of an open framework with elongated linear raceways containing electrical wiring and supporting thousands of bulbs gathered in groups of four identified herein as pixels. Pixels are closely and regularly spaced. The raceways are linearly positioned running the length of said arcade and placed parallel to one another to position themselves to become the interior arcuate frame structure. Each pixel is covered with a light diffusing dome and the individual bulbs are of a different color so that colors, shades, tones and hues of a thousand varieties may be obtained from each domed pixel. A display having in excess of one million bulbs with minimal wind resistance is readily constructible.
