Emergency Shelter And Associated Methods

View page
US Patent:
8017048, Sep 13, 2011
Filed:
Mar 5, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/682029
Inventors:
James H. Carter - Delray Beach FL, US
James W. Barnwell - Moravian Falls NC, US
Assignee:
JC Solutions, LLC - Delray Beach FL
International Classification:
E04B 1/16
US Classification:
264 34, 264 31, 264 32, 52232
Abstract:
An emergency shelter includes a domed foam structure that is constructed on-site or at a remote location from foam that can be mixed on-site. The structure can be made on-site by spraying foam in a flowable state in a predetermined pattern to build up walls to form a dome. The foam can be sprayed, for example, in a substantially helical pattern from a centrally located spray nozzle that is rotated to deposit a finite-thickness increment of foam over a time period sufficient that, by the time the nozzle reaches a previously sprayed area, the foam already deposited has had time to cure.

Thermoelectric Compressed Air And/Or Inert Gas Dryer

View page
US Patent:
20120174599, Jul 12, 2012
Filed:
Jan 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
12/985794
Inventors:
James W. BARNWELL - Moravian Falls NC, US
Assignee:
SPX Corporation - Charlotte NC
International Classification:
F25B 21/04
F25B 21/02
US Classification:
62 33, 62 34
Abstract:
A gas dryer is provided. The gas dryer includes a first opening structure forming a cooling pathway fluidly connected to the first opening; a first thermoelectric device thermally connected to the structure forming the cooling pathway and a heat exchanger. A condensate drain is located near an end of the cooling pathway and configured to drain condensate formed when a fluid is cooled along the cooling pathway. A structure forming a warming pathway is located between the condensate drain and a second opening, and a second thermoelectric device thermally connected between the structure forming cooling pathway and the structure forming the warming pathway and connected to exchange heat between the cooling pathway and the warming pathway. A method of drying a gas is provided. The method includes directing the gas through a cooling pathway, removing heat from the gas in the cooling pathway with a first thermoelectric device to a heat exchanger, condensing a fluid out of the gas. The method further includes draining the condensed fluid from the gas, directing the gas though a warming pathway and removing heat from gas in the cooling pathway with a second thermoelectric device and inserting that heat into gas in the warming pathway.

Process For Removing Contaminants From Compressed Air

James W. Barnwell - New Castle DE
Ernest J. Breton - Wilmington DE
Assignee:
Deltech Engineering, Inc. - New Castle DE
International Classification:
B01D 5334

An air purification system chills incoming air to condense water and toxic gases, adsorbs toxic molecules, reheats the air to reduce its relative humidity, and then converts oxidizable contaminants into carbon dioxide with an oxidation catalyst.

Apparatus And Method For Removing Condensable Material From A Gas

View page
US Patent:
57944539, Aug 18, 1998
Filed:
Jul 22, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/681328
Inventors:
James W. Barnwell - New Castle DE
Assignee:
Flair Corporation - Ocala FL
International Classification:
B01D 5300
F25D 1706
US Classification:
62 79
Abstract:
An improved method and apparatus is disclosed for removing condensable material from a gas. The gas is caused to flow in series through a chiller for cooling the gas and condensing the condensable material from the gas, then through a separator to separate the condensate from the gas, and then passing the gas through a reheater to reheat the gas. A predetermined charge of refrigerant is passed in a closed cycle through the chiller to cool the gas by absorbing the heat from the gas and evaporating, then the gaseous refrigerant is compressed by a compression unit having an electric drive means in which an amount of energy is added to the gaseous refrigerant. The hot, pressurized, gaseous refrigerant is then passed through an auxiliary condenser sized to remove the energy that was added to the refrigerant by the compression unit at no load conditions, then the refrigerant is passed through the reheater to further condense the refrigerant and to transfer heat to the exiting gas. The refrigerant then exits the reheater and returns to the chiller, completing the closed cycle. The predetermined charge of refrigerant is sized to cause the refrigerant exiting the reheater to be in a substantially gaseous state when there is no flow of gas through the reheater and to cause the pressure of the refrigerant exiting the reheater to generally decrease as the flow of gas through the reheater increases.
